 It doesn’t happen often, but occasionally I need a food scale for a recipe I’m preparing. I have an older plastic one that is tucked way in back in the bottom cabinet, but it’s a pain the rear to retrieve and my family has to listen to me complain while I am in the process of retrieving it. When I ran across EatSmart’s Precision Retro Mechanical Kitchen Scale I knew that was my answer.

I was excited to see a retro style scale. I love how the kitchen items were made of all metal and most were painted red or green. I also found that having a removable bowl was super convenient for cleaning.

I found that the scale are very accurate and with the markings being oversized, they were easy to read. There is a black knob (see in the photo) that is used to zero out the scale before you place the food on the bowl provided or your own plate. It is a very intuitive item to use.

I finally found something that was functional but aesthetically pleasing enough to leave on the counter (with yet another function). I try to leave our fruit out for easy access for the occasional hungry snacker. I replaced a bowl I had sitting on the counter with the EatSmart scale and it now holds fruit when it’s not being used for it’s intended purpose.
