Step2 Play and Shade Pool with Umbrella REVIEW

Step2

Step2 is the leading innovator of children’s products that build imaginations and enrich the family’s celebration of childhood.

We have been on the hunt for the perfect children’s pool that will accommodate both Andrew and Andrea. There are different factors to consider between the two as Andrew is 3 years old and wants to splash and play while Andrea is only 9 months old and experiencing the baby pool for the first time.

The Step2 Play and Shade Pool seemed to be a great addition to the Step2 summer line up and the kids were beyond excited to try it out!

When we pulled the Play and Shade Pool out of the box we first noticed the size of the pool itself. While the size of the pool seemed to be on the smaller size of the typical pools you will find for toddlers it filled very nicely with up to 12 gallons of water.

The Step2 Play and Shade pool has two molded seats that Andrew really liked. It was great for Andrew to be up high so he could play with the toy bar while Andrea sat down in the water out of his way. With this set up we avoided any sibling arguments as Andrea was able to enjoy the spinning water wheel from her spot while Andrew had access to everything else.

The setup of the Step2 Play and Shade pool was very easy to do. Included was the Play and Shade pool, 3 funnel cups, a spinning wheel and umbrella. My husband was able to put the Step2 Play and Shade pool together without instructions in a matter of about 5 minutes.

Andrew was very fascinated with toy bar that was attached to the umbrella and I don’t think he stopped playing with it the entire time in the pool.

The only thing that irritated Andrew about the toy bar on the Step2 Play and Shade pool was how the different attachments spun around, they were not fixed in place, so occasionally when one attachment would spin out of place it would throw off his waterfall effect.

I don’t think this would be a deciding factor because even though he showed frustration when the spinning occurred he continued to play with the toy attachments for the entire length of our pool session and proceeded to tell us he wasn’t coming inside when we were all done for the day.

Overall, I think the Step2 Play and Shade pool was a big hit! I love that the size is big enough for the kids to enjoy a fun day in the pool while small enough that I can easily tuck it away when not in use.

The added toys to the umbrella completely made this Play and Shade pool as it provided constant entertainment for both of my kids, 9 months and 3 years old.

I really love the added touch of the umbrella itself. The perfectly sized, lightweight umbrella nestles itself onto the side of the pool providing shade and protection from the sun while enjoying the pool.

I recorded a little video of the kids playing.. please note the water is only filled up maybe half of the way from the fill line as this was Andrea’s first time in the pool.
