Just because school’s out for summer doesn’t mean that learning and exploration have to take a break. To help kids stay excited about science over summer vacation, Scientific Explorer is challenged our family to take part in Scientific Explorer’s Outdoor Science Day!

We spent an afternoon in the backyard playing with a science kit… and Emma and Ethan had a blast!

·         My First Backyard Explorer Kit – perfect for young scientists (ages 4+) who want to explore nature

You don’t have to travel very far to become an explorer. There are all sorts of exciting creatures and things to discover right in your own backyard or nearby park. All you have to do is step outside! Get up close and personal with nature—as seen through a microscope. Build a birdfeeder and worm motel. There’s no limit to the adventures you’ll have and the fascinating things you’ll learn about the world around you from the Backyard Explorer kit.

Includes 4 popsicle sticks, 2 rubber bands, bug net, chalk, collecting case, crayon, string, tweezers, two way viewer and guide.

This particular kit caught Emma and Ethan’s eye. They love to go outside and our backyard is a great place to find bug and “things” to view up close. Emma caught a few bugs… an ant and spider… and we put things like grass, dirt, a leaf etc in the magnifier. They had a great time exploring!
