Kajeet Keeps Kids Safe and Parents Connected

This post brought to you by Kajeet. All opinions are 100% mine.

Several years back our family made the decision to cut the cord and go completely cellular. Losing our home phone was a little scary, but at the time we had added one extra cell line to our plan for our “home phone”. It’s “home” was our kitchen counter.

Since that time, our two oldest have grown, started driving and now have jobs. They both also have their own cell phone. We are again without a “home phone”.

As Emma and Ethan get a little older and we consider letting them go out of earshot range to play with friends or even leaving them alone for short periods of time, we will be considering another phone.

I have been reading about Kajeet and how it is the only wireless service provider in America dedicated to kids and education. This intrigued me.

Kajeet phones have been designed to keep kids safe with their Contact Manager parental control. The Contact Manager allows parents to designate what phone numbers a kid can call and/or text and what numbers should be blocked. This ensures unwanted calls or messages don’t get delivered, but those from mom and dad always do.

Hate late night phone calls like I do? With Time Manager, you can blocks hours so the phone can’t be used, but still allow calls from mom and dad to get through.

No other service provides free parental controls that limit usage but don’t prevent parent – kid access. Everything about Kajeet has been created to meet the needs and concerns of parents and kids.

As we shift into the summer, everyone is on the go. Kids are camp, with friends, with the babysitter and more. They’re on the move – and parents are, too. That’s why a phone from Kajeet appeals to me because I know that through the parental controls, I will always be able to get a hold of the kids.

Some of the things that make Kajeet appealing to us:

1. Free, unlimited, award-winning parental controls (all manageable from a computer) that allow parents to:

a.) Set time limits on phone use to prevent late night texting that interferes with kids getting a good night’s sleep. (learned this one the hard way with Josh)

b.) Block unwanted calls, but always ensure that those from mom and dad get through. (back to (a)… block the girl that won’t stop calling)

c.) Manage what websites can be accessed (even on Android™ smartphones).

d.) Decide who pays for certain services, like games or ringtones.

e.) Find your kid (or his/her phone if it gets lost or stolen) with GPS locating (note: included in select service plans or as an add-on)

2. Affordable plans that start at just $4.99/month.

a.) No activation fee. (those can be killer!)

b.) No termination fee.

c.) No long-term contract.

d.) No hassles if you need to change your plan. Change it whenever you need or want to, with no penalty.

3. Phones that kids want.

a.) Parents can purchase a popular Android™ smartphone (including the Samsung Galaxy S III 4G LTE or the LG Viper 4G LTE) or a more basic, “starter” phone (like the Kyocera Domino)

Unlike other services, Kajeet knows that kids want the independence and peer approval that come with having a cell phone – all the kids have them! And parents want a solution that won’t break the bank, can be used responsibly and won’t be abused.

That’s where Kajeet comes in. Kids get the phone they want and parents get a service that’s affordable and easy to manage. Phones can be purchased right from our website and from May 1 through June 17, there is a special discount offer on the website – 20% off all phones (except the Samsung Galaxy S4) with promo code PROUD.

In addition to the phones that are available for purchase, you may Bring Your Own Sprint® Device to Kajeet. This means you don’t need to purchase a phone from Kajeet in order to be on their service; if you already own an eligible (and inactive) device, you can activate it with Kajeet.

Check out the Kajeet website for eligible phones and coverage areas.
