Getting the House Holiday-Ready

Getting the House Holiday Ready

Getting your home ready for the holidays doesn’t have to be expensive or a lot of work. The main focus should be on sprucing things up a bit to make the home a comfortable and inviting place to be. The holiday season is a busy time for everyone. With that in mind, you should consider some of the simple things you can do to create a welcoming and holiday-inspired atmosphere; simple approaches work and they are virtually stress-free.

The holidays are a great time to reconnect with friends and family which often means having guests in your home. From family functions to various types of holiday events, you are sure to be busy. A few chic and elegant holiday decorations can make your home holiday-ready, which allows time for you to focus on having fun.

From Outside In

First impressions are important so you should add some holiday touches that welcome guests as they enter your home. A beautiful homemade holiday wreath can be hung on your front door and simple holiday inspired decorations can be displayed on an entryway tabletop. It’s an easy way to make people want to see more of your home.

Room by Room

Your room by room work begins with a basic cleaning and de-cluttering. From there all you have to do is add a few holiday-themed touches. Remember, simple works.

It’s always a good idea to decorate with items that are functional in some way. This means the item will look good as a holiday-themed decoration and it will provide a function or service of some sort. For instance, kitchens and bathrooms can be spruced up with holiday-inspired towels and soap containers. Of course, not every decorative item will serve a function. Baskets of appropriately colored flowers for example, look great in any space.

Flowers can also be perfect for the bedroom. You could also add a small holiday wreath to the bedroom door. Other great things to add to the bedroom include ordinary items that include a bit of holiday décor. Suggestions include holiday themed tissue boxes or even a classic Christmas story book on the nightstand.

In the living room and family areas you can go all out with holiday decorations. Christmas stockings hung from a mantle or staircase is an example of this type of décor. It’s a simple touch that makes a big impression.
