We have several of our children’s videos stored on our iPad and iPods. They are great for on the go viewing for one child, but at home we often have fights over who gets to use the device. The 3M mobile projector turns your iPhone, iPod or iPad into a mobile theater for everyone to enjoy!

When the mobile projector arrived we were super excited to create our own little drive in in the backyard and watch a movie on the side of the house. Unfortunately, the projector arrived during a huge 100+ degree heat wave that didn’t let up even after sunset.

Setup was super simple. Plug in the power supply and one of the connector hooks into the 3M projector and the other into you apple device. The control panel on the projector is simple and straight forward to use.

We decided to bring the drive in experience inside. Emma and Ethan wanted to have a private viewing in Emma’s room so we set up the bean bags, popped some popcorn and set up the projector.

The kids had a great time and asked to watch a second movie… “alone”. The projector was a huge hit and I wish we could have taken it outside for a block movie party.

Some other ideas we had for the mobile projector were:

  • display your children’s school presentations during a family get together
  • mirror your favorite iPhone/iPad game like Angry Birds for life sized gaming
  • display a picture slideshow during a wedding reception, graduation party, birthday party etc.
  • take it on vacation and show a movie on the hotel wall while the kids settle in

Overall we were pretty impressed with the 3M mobile projector. It was small, lightweight, easy to port around, easy to use and fun to share!

  1. Wow, that is so cool! Kinda like going to the theater right at home. Love it! Thanks for sharing.

  2. My oldest was born not quite twenty years ago…and I read this post and think of just how far things have come. This is very cool!

Wonder what the next twenty will bring?!

  3. That is soo cool. You could take a theater with you wherever you go. Awesome!

    • Also, This would also be great for client proofing. (Photographer here) I could take it to the place instead of having proofing at my place.
