Make Your School Runs A Little More Enjoyable With These Tips

The school run is always a fast-paced time of the day for any busy mom. Sometimes this can be fun, but most of the time, the stress overweights everything. Making sure the kids are fed, watered, clothed and ready to go is not as simple as it sounds. It’s a huge juggling act that never seems to get more straightforward when you have little ones. But it has to be done.

However, there are ways you can make each morning more enjoyable with a few simple tips…

Comfort First

Depending on where you are in the world, the weather is probably changing right now. If you’re in the Northern hemisphere, you’re most likely having to adjust to the colder mornings, which can be a struggle. This calls for winter gloves, cozy coats, and durable boots. The last thing you want is to be freezing on your drive in – it’ll only make you dread it even more. If you have the right clothing though, you’ll feel ready for anything. Make sure your kids are also kitted out appropriately too!

Set Routine

If you get into a solid routine with your school run, everything should all fall into place much more naturally, meaning it’s a smoother process overall. Try to stick to set deadlines to get up, have breakfast and leave the front door, ensuring you have plenty of time to get to your destination. This will be helpful for you and your kids. It will help you to get into a good circadian rhythm too, which will mean you’ll start waking up and falling asleep at the same time each day and night. As long as you are getting a good amount of sleep to allow you to feel energized, then this is really beneficial to give you structure.

Entertainment at the Ready

Once you’re in the car, if you have a bit of a journey on your hands, it’s a good idea to have something to entertain the kids on the way in, to ensure it’s as peaceful as possible. This could be handheld video games, their favorite music on the radio, magazines, or simply a spoken game you can all play together.

Flask

In the morning when you’re sorting your kids out for school, you may not have time to prepare and sit down with a comforting hot drink. So, a better option is to get yourself a flask to go, as this way you can have your tea or coffee whilst you drive your kids to school. Multi-tasking is sometimes necessary on the school run and a good quality flask will keep your drink at the right temperature.

You’re probably not going to be able to ensure that every single school run is totally problem-free, but with a few simple ideas, you can certainly enhance the process. Try to plan as much in advance as possible, for example, do breakfast prep, lay out clothes for the next day, and get everything in order. Routine and organization are key!
