You Don’t Have to Do Everything: Small Ways Moms Can Protect Their Health

If you’re a mum, there’s probably a very high chance that you have very long days and you end up trying to fit in jobs here, there, and everywhere. You lack a little bit of self-care. As well as making sure you are taking care of the family and the kids, you are also expected to make sure that you are able to eat a healthy diet yourself, exercise, and also add in some time for self-care.

This isn’t something that should feel impossible.

Let’s explore this more:

Make Sure You Listen to You Body and What It’s Telling You

We often feel as though it is right to push through hard times and just get on with things.

We even do this when we are physically tired, in pain, or worn out. But this just isn’t the right thing to do. You should never feel bad for needing a break every now and then. Even if it’s a quick five minutes of breathing space after the school run.

In fact, feeling tired and worn out is a clear message from your body that you need to rest and take a moment for yourself.

It might be something as small as noticing pain in your pain when carrying washing or groceries, or feeling over tired in the middle of the day. If mobility is an issue, then it is important to make sure you are looking for ways to make your daily routine easier and without pain.

That could be using grocery delivery more often rather than heading out to the shop, or in some cases, talking to your doctor about an accessibility parking provision. It’s not about giving up at all; it’s all about making sure that you are saving your energy for the parts of life that really matter.

Saying No Is Important for Your Health

We all want to be able to help others as much as possible, but sometimes we need to make sure we are helping ourselves first.

Constantly saying yes all the time is only going to lead to you ignoring your own needs, and it can lead to you having serious burnout. The next time that you attempt to take on just one more thing, ask yourself what you’re actually trading it for. Sometimes protecting your health means that you need to cancel plans or learn to say no in the first place. That’s not you failing; that is just you being realistic.

Conclusion

You don’t need to be Super Mum at all. And you certainly don’t have anything to prove. You just need o have a focus on making sure you are slowing down when you need to, and aren’t trying to do everything all the time.

Pay attention to when your body is asking to rest, and you should be absolutely fine.
