Vicks Starry Night Humidifier
Sample item received for review. All opinions are my own.
It’s Cold and Flu season and the dreaded cold bug has hit our house hard this fall. Having kids with a cold at night time is the worst. They are uncomfortable and can’t breath. My daughter gets a cough whenever she gets stuffy which gets worse whenever she lays down. Honestly our Vicks starry night humidifier couldn’t have come at a better time. McKenna started waking up early in the morning with her cough and sure enough came the stuffy nose that goes with her cough.
I was excited to get the Vicks Starry Night Humidifier to help her sleep more comfortably at night. When she saw it she was excited that it was PINK! Then when I turned on the stars she was beyond excited, she came running out of her room yelling “Daddy you just HAVE to come see the stars….. They are just so beautiful!” What a great idea Vicks came out with to combine the need for a humidifier with the excitement of having the stars and moon on the ceiling for the kids… nothing better then seeing them so happy when they are sick.
The Vicks Starry Night is a cool moisture humidifier. The water tank is a 1.0 gallon tank that easily lifts off the base and on the bottom is a cap that you turn to unlock and fill with water. Once it’s filled and the cap is back in lock position you can place the tank back on the base.
There are 2 different speed settings… one is a higher speed and does give off a little noise, and the other is a sleep mode that is a lower speed and is quieter. The run time is 18-24 hours depending on which mode you use. When the mist is turned on it is a invisible moisture mist, so you do not see anything coming out. If you place your hand over the fan you can feel the cool moisture.
There is an independent control for the star projector. I find this nice because when the humidifier isn’t needed the kids can still have the stars up on the ceiling. The stars do rotate through different colors automatically. The only thing that I would have added would be a timer on the stars. When turned on the stars do stay on all night and if forgotten to turn off they stay on all day as well.
Another feature that I like with the Starry Night humidifier is that there is a slot on the inside of the base to place a Vicks Soothing Vapors Scent Pad. I like the smell of vicks when I’m all stuffed up and it’s nice to be able to use a non-medicated scent for the kids when they are stuffy.
The first night placing the humidifier in my kids room, my daughter had a great sleep and did not wake up coughing. Her cold didn’t stick around very long and she was able to get some great sleep and rest that she needed to kick that cold bug in the butt.
