Back to School with Litter Free Lunch Boxes
We received two Litter Free Lunch Boxes for review purposes only. All opinions are 100% my own.
It’s difficult to imagine, but every day over 9 million pounds of lunch garbage ends up as litter, or in our landfills. If you break it down to just your child… an average child bringing their lunch to school creates 67 lbs of waste a year, adding to the 3.5 billion pounds of lunch box garbage generated in the U.S. every year. Much of this litter is coming from single use bottles, aluminum foil, and plastic/paper bags used to take lunch to school and office.
My Emma brings her lunch to school on occasion and I am as guilty as the next person when it comes to packaging her sandwiches in plastic baggies. This year Emma will be bringing her lunch to school in a Litter Free Lunch Box.
The Litter Free Lunch Box is a sustainable lunch product that is the perfect solution to reducing our carbon footprint as well as addressing the issues of portion control with our children. The lunch box itself is available in 4 fun patterns and all of the containers inside are BPA free, dishwasher safe, microwave safe and CPSIA tested safe. Not only are they reusable, but they are also recyclable.
This kit comes with four BpA-free airtight food containers (2 small, 1 medium and 1 large) and a 15oz BpA-free bottle – everything you need to pack a fresh, healthy lunch.
Bottles are dishwasher safe.
2 small containers: 3.75” x 2.25” x 1-3/8” deep
Medium container: 5.25” x 3.75” x 1-3/8” deep
Large container: 5.25” x 3.75” x 2.75” deep
Bottle: 2.25” x 2.25” x 6.5”
Not only are the shells fun and attractive, but they are insulted and they can be washed in a washing machine. This is fabulous news for me. I lost count last year how many times I had to wipe excess peanut butter or spilled applesauce out of Emma’s lunchbox. Knowing that I don’t have to mess with this yucky nastiness (and just toss it into the washing machine) is a huge plus for me.
Everything about this lunch kit is pure genius. The shell is large enough for all 4 containers, the liquid container and a little extra room for napkins, a note from home or an extra little treat. I’m planning on purchasing a small reusable freezer ice pack that will fit in nicely beside the bottle.
You can use all of the containers at once or just a couple and the kit still works like a charm. Personally I feel encouraged to pack fresher ingredients for my baby girl to munch on like carrots and apple slices or maybe even a dollop of hummus. I will be saving money by not purchasing pre-packaged items as well as making healthier choices with fresher ingredients. All that and creating less waste for the local dump. It’s a win… win.
