The Coby CAM5002 High Definition Camcorder is great for recording your favorite moments in stunning HD. Film video, take pictures, and review files at the touch of a button, and enjoy high-definition playback of your favorite home movies with the built-in HDMI connection. A built-in SD card slot allows you to record hours of video, while the integrated USB plug, MuveeTM editing software and YouTubeTM uploader let you create and share great original videos online in minutes. HDMI cable and travel accessories also included.

We’ve been looking for a video camera for us and the kids to use, so when given the opportunity to review the Coby Snapp HD Digital Camcorder, we thought it would be the perfect camera for all of us.

It has a full color 2″ LCD viewfinder, records video in 720p HD resolution, and has advanced features including still capture and 4x digital zoom.  You can view recorded videos and photos on a TV, edit video and upload to YouTube® with included software from muvee®.

When first taking the camcorder out of the package, I read the instructions & got the battery installed easily.  My only problem was that I couldn’t figure out how to open the USB plug.  It took a few minutes to realize that there is an “open” button on the side of the camera.  Ha!  Sometimes I’m not the sharpest crayon in the box!  So, once I got it open, I charged up the camera so we could try it out for my son’s first track meet.

The first day we used the camcorder, it was a very bright, sunny day.  I hadn’t read every detail in the instructions, but knew enough to record & show our 9-year old how to work it.  She had no trouble using it & she was able to record her brother’s first run.  I like that it’s small enough to fit in a pocket & very lightweight.  The playback is clear & easy to use.

The video turned out well even when it was directly facing the sun.  After installing the Muvee® software, it was pretty easy to use & it only took me a few minutes to make my first movie with music.  I think it turned out pretty good!  (Especially considering it was recorded by a wiggly 9-year old!)

Overall, I like this camcorder.  It’s not “top of the line”, but it holds its own very well.  It has some nice features & it’s easy to use.  I don’t have to stress out because it’s not a really expensive camera and if it gets lost or broken it can easily be replaced.
