GelPro Plush Gel Filled Comfort Floor Mats

gelpro_plush_shop_logo

I spend a lot of time in my kitchen… on my feet, at the counter, chopping and prepping vegetables, cooking meals, decorating baked goodies (cakes, cupcakes, cookies)etc. You know the drill, and you (probably) know the feet, leg and back pain associated with standing in one spot for a long time. This time of year is especially hard on my body with the added load of holiday baking.

GelPro has a solution for us that is not only extremely soothing and comfortable, but is aesthetically pleasing as well.

Constructed with a 100% revolutionary gel core, GelPro floor mats are ergonomically designed to provide supreme comfort to your feet, legs and lower back while standing for extended periods of time on hard flooring. Experience the difference a GelPro mat makes in your home today.

I was sent a GelPro Plush in woven teak to try for myself. I’ve seen hair stylist, retail clerks, chefs and the like using padded mats to stand on and I had wondered if they really would be beneficial.

As you can see from the photo above, the mat compliments my woodwork nicely. The 20”x36” size isn’t overwhelming, but large enough to span two cabinets (leaving room for a helper if wanted). The photo below shows the woven pattern in detail. To be honest, I was a bit surprised when it arrived that it wasn’t a “real” woven fiber because it looks textured and detailed. After thinking about it a bit, I realized that would be silly because then it would be difficult to wipe clean.

IMG_4823

Woven has the appearance of natural grass fibers woven together to create an earthy, textured pattern. Teak is a medium, reddish brown textured with subtle tones of darker brown reminiscent of brown sugar. This warm, inviting color will coordinate well with most flooring and cabinetry in both contemporary or casual spaces.

I spent the afternoon on the mat yesterday chopping up piles of vegetables for soup/dinner. I noticed how I didn’t have to shift my weight as much, or arch my back to compensate for standing in one place too long. When I’d step off the mat to grab something it was an immediate shock to my feet and I let out a subtle “ahh” when I got back to the mat. My husband came over to ask me something and stepped on the mat also… he didn’t want to step off. He had sore feet from running 12 miles the previous day and 10 that day and mentioned that someone should make shoes with this thick gel material in the soles.

When you think about it, people spend a lot of time in their home standing on hard surfaces that were not designed with comfort in mind. Standing for an extended period of time – while cooking, doing loads of laundry and other activities – causes stress to your whole body, especially in your feet, joints and lower back. While standing, your leg muscles are in a constant state of flexion, which reduces blood and oxygen flow throughout your body causing fatigue. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, around 46 million Americans suffer from arthritis and Newsweek magazine has reported that 65 million Americans experience back pain.

These mats are an investment, but I would definitely purchase one for someone that spends a ton of time in the kitchen on their feet. The gel supports but gives at the same time… it actually feels like it gives you a little spring to your step. They are pleasing to the eye and instant relief to the feet and back.

i like the straited moss color/pattern. I could definitly use these, after having 2 kids in 2 years, i have had some serious back issues, and sometimes standing for long periods can aggrivate it. this would be great to stand on instead of the hard floor while i prep dinner.
