Recycling in our city is mandatory. Well, paying for recycling is. We figure if we have to pay, then I guess we’ll play. Fortunately for us our recycling program is a one sort one… meaning we put everything into one container and we’re done with it. Our main issue is having an adequate container to recycle in. With a family of six and three of us home all day long, we product a lot of waste. Rubbermaid heard our cry and sent a solution for our dilemma.

The 2-in-1 Recycler makes recycling easy! This two-unit bin allows you to either contain trash and recyclables all in one location or sort recyclables. The top unit is perfect for collecting recyclables and has a fold away handle that makes it easy to take out and empty into your recycling bin. The lower bin tilts out for easy access, and holds an 8 gallon trash bag in place with the Liner Lock™ system. Alternatively, you can use the lower bin to sort another type of recyclable and carry it out with the built-in handles.

The upper bin has a lid that raises upward while the lower bin tilts out for quick use and slides out completely to empty. Both compartments have a handle to carry that doubles as a tie down for the trash bags (to keep them from slipping into the bin).

Features:

    • Contain trash and recyclables all in one location or sort your recyclables
    • Sleek design blends into kitchen décor
    • Features LinerLock™ bag management in lower bin
    • Removable lid
    • Fold-away handles
    • 5.8 gal sorting bin
    • 7.4 gal tilt out bin with Liner Lock™ handles
    • Total capacity = 13.2 gal
    • Perfect for multi-stream or single stream recycling

Set up was super easy and we were ready for rubbish. We used the top portion for recycling and the bottom for regular trash. After using the 2-in-1 recycler for a week just about everyone in the house had an opinion. My oldest has the distinct pleasure of bringing the trash and recycling down to the garage when the containers are full in the kitchen. His opinion was that they filled up way too fast (and with six of us, we were emptying the containers daily). He did like the handle on the top portion as he carried the entire part down to the garage and dumped it with ease. The younger kids liked how easy they were to open and use. The fact that the lower portion tilts out to open was a huge novelty that they did over and over again. I am usually the one that lines the empty cans with bags and I liked how the handles on the lower portion held the trash bag in place. The overall opinion in the house… everyone liked the 2-in-1 recycler. Their main complaint was that it filled too quickly… which is understandable in our house. I would recommend it but also include the fact that if you have a larger family you will be emptying it out often.
