Which Dress Will Take Me To The Yellow Brick Road… I Mean Red Carpet? | Help Me Decide!

As you know… I am attending the red carpet premier of Oz The Great and Powerful next month. My initial shock has finally dissipated, but now I am in full search mode for “the dress” to wear on the red carpet. I reached out to a few designers for suggestions and Sonsi was more than gracious and offered to sponsor my dress as well as coach me through the selection process!

Ok, I thought I was nervous before… now I have the all important decision of WHAT DRESS TO PICK?!

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time looking through the social occasion section of the Sonsi site.

Here are a few of the dresses that caught my eye:

Nadine Jeweled by Igigi Rebecca Gown by IGIGI Sevilla by Eliza Parker Leigh Lace by IGIGI

As you can see… I have a particular style that I tend to gravitate towards.

I love the black Nadine Jeweled Gown by IGIGI for it’s simple elegance. You can never go wrong with a “little black dress”.

The emerald green Rebecca Gown by IGIGI caught my eye not only because of it’s style, but because it was one of the few in that color. You know… Oz is the Emerald City.

The red  Sevilla Gown by Eliza Parker is very similar to the black gown I wore to Tribeca last year. I know it will be comfortable, have confidence it will fit right but I am not sure I can “pull off” a red dress. Wouldn’t it be fun to pair it with a pair of sparkly ruby slippers though?

Finally the gold with black lace overlay Leah Lace Gown by IGIGI caught my eye because it’s stunning. I worry that I will feel awkward and uncomfortable with exposing my arms (I wish it had sleeves!) but I keep coming back at it just to gaze and wonder.

So…. what are your thoughts?

Which dress do YOU think would not stand out too much, be flattering as well as comfortable for this grand event?

Disclaimer: Disney is sponsoring my way to the red carpet event. Sonsi will be sponsoring my gown. All opinions remain 100% my own.

  1. Congratulations on this occasion, I hope you have lots of fun! 🙂
I would go with the red dress – I love the cut and the length and the colour. I don’t think you should worry about “pulling it off”. I am sure you can and the other thing is this colour is really “calm” even though it is red-ish.
I like the emerald green one, too but when I saw this I thought “it looks elfish”, while when I look at the red one all I am thinking is “it looks classy!” 🙂

This is a RED CARPET PREMIERE girlfriend. Average people never make it to an event of this magnitude. I say, go for it with the gold with black lace overlay Leah Lace Gown by IGIGI. If you want to have some coverage for your arms (as I would, too, since I am no longer 115 lbs like I was before having 3 kids), go for a shawl or cropped jacket, maybe in a slightly transparent fabric. Glam it up & go for it. I would rather go all out than chastise myself later for looking less glamorous. I’d pair it with pretty black heels and some simple gold earrings that maybe dangle about 3-4 inches below your earlobe. A pretty black clutch to hold essentials like lipstick and your cell phone, and you’re set! Good luck on your dress choice and congrats!!! Have a great time! :0)

    I like the first dress

  4. OH, you have got to go with the lacy one! Get a little shawl or something to cover your arms, but I think you should definitely go with that one. I think you will look amazing in it.

I like the Leah Lace Gown by IGIGI, but if you feel uncomfortable, pair it with a silky wra/shawl in a deep jewel-tone. Maybe a gold or red. I LOVE that dress; it’s very vintage-cool.

  6. Congrats on going to the red carpet. Anytime I buy a dress I always ask myself where else can I wear the dress if I can dress it up or dress it down and what other color would it look great with. I think either the red dress or green dress. You can wear the red dress with gold or silver shoes or if you want to add a pop of color you can always wear with pink or orange shoes or accessories. The green you can wear with gold or silver shoes. I personally love the combo of green and gold. Don’t forget to post pictures.

The black and emerald green dresses are pretty, but it looks like they may be difficult to wear a standard bra with them and not have the straps showing. And the red looks a bit too wintery to me for California. The black lace dress seems perfect (and could easily be worn for other functions. They show it with a short black jacket if you are worried about it being sleeveless and I’m with others here saying you could get a shawl to wear as well.

  8. The Red for sure! The gold would be my second choice!

I love the Leah Lace Gown the best, then the Nadine Jeweled Gown & if you chose
the Lace sleeveless gown you could wear a shrug or sweater over it .. so you will have
sleeves 🙂 Have fun on your trip!! Lucky lady ..

I love the looks of the longer dresses, which is why I wouldn’t pick the lace overlay dress. I absolutely LOVE the emerald dress. It is exquisite!
