We have slowly been on a green mission starting with our food and slowly trickling to other areas like cleaning products and beauty products. Everything from purchasing organic when possible to seeking out more natural methods of cleaning using common household items like vinegar and water. We have also been trying to no be wasteful when it comes to things like water, so when I heard about Washdrops I was intrigued.

What is Washdrops?

Washdrops is a revolutionary new product that allows you to wash your car with just one bucket of water! No hose, NO rinsing, so you save gallons of water every time you wash your car! Not only does it helps comply with the US  Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Clean Water Act, but it is biodegradable, solvent-free, butyl free, phosphate free, and ammonia free. It’s completely non-hazardous – you can even dispose of Washdrops on a lawn or flowerbed. It has tons of household uses as well – it is amazing on windows and makes stainless steel appliances sparkle!

The bi-polar weather here in Missouri was finally on a warm streak… perfect timing because my van was definitely on the dirty side. I spent the morning cleaning out the mess inside and then decided to ask Ethan if he wanted to help me wash the car.

DSC_0237

Ethan’s initial response was to run towards the hose. He was confused when I stopped him, but then I showed him Washdrops and told him how we wouldn’t be wasting water while cleaning the car and how it was supposed to leave our van nice and shiny. I filled up our bucket, added an ounce of Washdrops, gave Ethan a couple of instructions (to wash near me because I had to dry one section at a time and to please wring out the sponge after dipping). I then handed him a Chenille sponge and we went to work!

DSC_0239

It didn’t take long before I was left to wash the exterior as Ethan decided using the tire brush was a lot more fun. I do need to mention, the water he is sitting in is actually from my husband using the hose (you can see him the background)… it was not because we were washing the car. The entire process of washing with Washdrops was very neat and tidy… the only water on the ground was from the saturated sponge (yes, Ethan forgot to wring it out).

Starting from the top you wipe your car down with a sponge dunked in the Washdrops/water combo, wring it out and wipe/wash the car as you normally would when washing. You clean one section of your car at a time so that you can dry it before the moisture evaporates… then you move on! It seriously is that simple!

In less than an hour (it took a little extra time with Ethan) I had a shiny clean van (with extra shiny wheels… thanks Ethan!). Even my husband took a step back and mentioned that he was impressed with how well it cleaned. He then asked to see the drying towel, thinking that maybe I was just wiping the dirt off with the towel. Again… he was impressed! The drying towel can be seen in the photo below on the left… not much dirt on it at all!

As you can see, the Chenille sponge and the water is where the dirt ended up. When I poured the water out it had sediment in the bottom. Once again, we were very impressed.
My next mission is to bring Washdrops inside to test out the window and stainless steel application. I’ve got my fingers crossed it works just as well inside!
