If you have kids then you’ve been there before. You are half way down the road in the middle of traffic and your child is having a fit because they dropped their toy on the floor. You, of course, cannot reach it.

What about snacks? Several times Emma & Ethan have lost a snack from dropping it and it slides towards the back of their car seat wedged between their bottom and the cushion. Insert crying here.

Star Kids Products has the answer to our problems. It’s a Snack & Play Travel Tray! It is a soft tray that fastens on so it won’t slide off. The material is sturdy but flexible for safety during a crash (think the padded straps of a backpack). It has a nice ledge and side pockets for cups, snacks and other toys that they aren’t playing with at the moment.

I am eager to try these on a longer car trip. Generally the younger kids get bored easily. Ethan likes to pile all his toys in his lap and then he can’t move. With the tray he can put a few toys in the side pocket and actually play with the other toys freely on the tray. I like that it’s fairly easy to remove… thus making getting in and out of the car seat less of a hassle.

The surface is easy to wipe clean and the various crumbs that catch in the corners easily shake out. My only complaint, if you can call it one, was that because it isn’t rigid (for safety reasons) it bows down a little which can make the toys/food slide towards the toddlers body. That’s okay, though… at least they don’t slide off!

Here’s a bonus use… strap it to a stroller to keep them occupied during a shopping trip! It seems that if I get even close to a Gymboree store my two will start fussing… loudly. I can’t wait to try these trays on the stroller!
