|Powermat was established in 2007 in response to the explosion of electronic devices flooding today’s market and the growing need to provide a simple, smart, efficient and clutter-free approach for simultaneously powering multiple devices. Powermat allows users to enable their electronic devices once with a Powermat receiver and then set down up to three devices on the charging mat for safe and effective wireless charging. It’s simple, effortless, and provides consumers with first-of-its-kind freedom from the need to constantly plug/unplug as well as the angst of running on empty. Moreover, Powermat eliminates the tangle of wires that result from multiple cords overload; virtually eliminating ‘cord fatigue’ among consumers toting more and more “must have” gadgets.|
Our household owns 3 iPod Touches and 3 cell phones. There are plugs and wires everywhere you look. It’s incredible how much we rely on electronic devices! When Powermat agreed to let us review a 3x mat and 3 receivers I was excited!
The actual items received are pictured above. The receivers are for 2 iPod Touches and a universal with 2 tips (the mat we received had a bonus universal inside with 7 tips). I found a non intrusive spot to put the mat (instead of cords and plugs all over my kitchen counter, yeah!) and plugged it in. That’s it! It’s ready to go! The older kids decided they would be the lucky recipients of the iPod receivers as the receiver is actually a new skin/case for the iPod with a receiver on the back —>. I liked the receiver case as it wasn’t flimsy silicone, but it lacked a screen protector and with the two toddlers in the house playing my iPod… I preferred to keep my Otterbox.
That’s not “the end” for me though… the tip accessories on the universal receiver would work! There are 7 to choose from and they are all labeled with the brand that uses that size. As you can see, the tip at the bottom is rather large. It is labeled “Apple”… I can keep my Otterbox and still use the Powermat!
My oldest daughter also uses the universal to charge her Samsung phone (tip 5 from the top). There is actually a tip in the box for everyone in the house if we all wanted to use the mat for our phones (then it’s a matter of fighting for a spot… 6 devices and 3 charging spots). My overall and final thoughts on the Powermat is that it is a pretty ingenious device. The ease of charging for the iPods is incredible and the convenience of charging our cell devices is nice. I especially love the lack of cords strung all of the kitchen counter! With several receivers made especially for phones (the ones like are like a skin/case) , I will be looking into a receiver when I upgrade my phone!
