My kids are total molding dough freaks. They play it on an almost daily basis… I figure it’s creative, stress reducing and plain ‘ole fun so why not?
I have heard of Moon Dough, but have avoided it until now because of the rumors about crumbling etc. But now… Moon Dough has an all new formula! This molding dough now features a better consistency for molding and is less crumbly. After a little more research, I found out that Moon Dough never dries out, so you can use it again and again and again. Well alrighty then…. bring it on!
Our Moon Dough arrived and we hurried to the table to make our “breakfast”! Ethan loves to roll, cut and mold dough but sometimes has a difficult time because it’s so tough. I was surprised at the texture of the Moon Dough. It almost feels like a block of foam that is easily squished. It is scent free and “temperature” free (does that make sense?). The “other” dough we play with usually feels cool to the touch, this one feels like… well, a block of foam!
Ethan took right to the Moon Dough. He was so excited to see how easily I was stamping out waffles, toast and pancakes. It took one demo from me and he was on his way. The Moon Dough ripped and pulled apart easily and did not crumble into tiny pieces. Ethan stamped through the Moon Dough with ease and had a plate full of “food” in no time. The smaller mold has a jelly jar, pickles, and strawberries. I showed him how I made pickles and he easily took to the press forms.
The stamps are super simple for even a newly three year old to handle and our breakfast date was a success. I didn’t mind the mess because the pieces of Moon Dough re-clumped back together easily. When it was cleaned Josh and I spent some time playing with it… mostly massaging it like a stress ball. It can actually be addicting . Ethan has asked several times since to play Moon Dough. I believe our old standard molding dough might be hitting the high road out of town!
