ABOUT MOM’S FAMILY CALENDAR 2011
The 17-month calendar that keeps Mom and the whole family organized, Mom’s Family Calendar marries the organizational powers of a planner with the utter cuteness of Sandra Boynton’s animal characters—those lovable hippos and cows, pigs, chickens, and dogs—hopping, dancing, and skipping through the grids. The grids run vertically, with five columns across the top (one for each family member) and the days of the month running down the left-hand side. There’s plenty of room to write in every person’s activities for each day, and Mom and Dad can easily see who’s doing what, when. Includes a drop-down storage pocket, 500 stickers, and a write-on, wipe-off magnetic phone list to hang on the fridge. This is Family Central, with a big Boynton smile
I am a little behind this year… I usually shop for a “Mom’s Calendar” by November 1st. So when Workman Publishing contacted me about a review I didn’t hesitate.
I have been a loyal calendar customer (for years) for another line, so Sandra Boynton’s calendar is completely new to me. I am used to writing our names (multiple times for each month I might add) down the left hand column. On this calendar the days of the week/dates run down the left hand column and the family members names are listed across the top (once). After taking the time to enter birthdates and other important information I started getting a feel for this layout… I think I might actually like it better!
The stickers included are cute, but I was (and still am) a little confused where I am supposed to use the cutsie animal figures. There are stickers with labels like birthday, no school, half day, doctor, dentist etc. but there are also a lot of little character stickers. I used a few of the little guys with party hats on to label family members (that don’t live with us) birthdays and it seemed to work alright.
Overall I am liking this calendar and I don’t foresee any gripes. I was a little frustrated that the label MOM was already written in one spot though as our family has six members and I have to double up Mom & Dad on most calendars to make us fit. You can kind of see it in the photo above… I just wrote Dad over the label Mom. I think it’s a cute calendar, nice layout and a decent price!
