TABOO, everyone’s favorite game of forbidden words, has gotten a makeover in 2011! Now with a new, sleek look, game changing die and hysterical “Uh-Oh!” buzzer sound, players will frantically try to get their teammates to guess the winning word without using the Taboo words and phrases on their card. How do you get your team to say the word “heart throb” without saying “teenage,” “idol,” “star” or “movies”? With more than 1,000 words for players to try to guess, the “unspeakable” fun can continue for hours.
Our family enjoys a good board game on occasion and liked the older version of Taboo. We were up for the challenge when offered to try the new version. There are several parts of the game that are very similar, but we liked the new dice that set the stage for each round. It dictates who can answer the clue giver (just their teammate or everyone) as well as if the clue giver can use their hands or sit on them.
We did a few rounds according to the rules, and as usual bent the rules and made the game our own. We particularly enjoyed having everyone guess and continued to play that way until the end of the game. We had a great time and agree that Taboo will be considered each time we want to play a family game.
You can purchase Taboo for $39.36 from Amazon.com.
