|Nature holds many lessons and adventures and is important for a child’s physical and emotional development. A growing body of evidence proves the linking of the lack of nature in children’s lives and the rise in obesity, attention disorders and depression. Giving a child the possibility to create a bond with nature through pictures and words, as well as educating them about our environmental problems will have positive effects on their overall perception of the environment, their efforts to save it, and will make them simply want to go out and experience it.|
The older I get the more I am aware of my actions on the environment and others. When I was approached to review Hannah and the Talking Tree I was eager to share this with Emma and Ethan. Hannah is a little girl with very big ears that allow her to listen to everything in nature. During her numerous trips she uses her ability to help trees and animals survive. I thought the idea of this book was creative and adorable. Emma liked Hannah and felt sorry for the trees. She was happy when Hannah found a way to help them.
I was pleased at how well this book could get Emma to empathize with nature and understand what was happening. It helps children to understand that we need to listen and that how we treat the environment is important. I highly recommend this book.
