My Take: Delta generously sent us the Ashton Single Handle Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet with soap dispenser (model 19922-SSSD-DST). I have heard great things about Delta quality and we were excited to try a Delta faucet. This one in particular has many features we liked: it swivels 360 degrees for full sink access, it has a high arc pull down that allows for extra clearance for deep pots and pans, it has a two function multi-flow wand that temporarily allows the flow to increase, and best yet… there is a lifetime warranty on the faucet and finish!
Some other features:
- ADA Compliant
- DIAMOND™ Seal Technology
- MagnaTite® Docking
- Touch Clean
- Brilliance® Finish
- With Soap / Lotion Dispenser
- CA/VT Compliant
Our old faucet and installation: Installing kitchen faucets is not one of my husband’s favorite things in the world to do, but he has a little experience doing so. As you can see, the soap dispenser on my old model is missing… the parts were very cheap and broke quickly after installation. The faucet itself was working fine, but the overspray was a little irritating.
Removal of the old faucet went smoothly… so now on to the new! There were several things about the installation that surprised and pleased my husband. The water supply hoses were actually part of the faucet. He said that the length of the hoses made it easier to install, that he didn’t need to get up so close under the sink. With our old faucet, we had to purchase extender hoses separately and they still weren’t as long as the ones already part of this faucet.
Delta also included a plastic “wrench” for tightening the nuts. My husband was very pleased to see this included and mentioned a few times that if he had to use his own wrench it would have been more difficult and tedious having the manipulate things under the sink.
Above the sink, we were both impressed with the mounting plate that goes under the faucet. We have a 4 hole sink, so use of the plate was necessary to cover our extra two holes. Delta thought of this as well. See the two shanks? These go through the extra holes to make the plate sturdy. Our old faucet plate did not have these shanks. My husband had to use a bunch of putty underneath so the plate would not swivel under the faucet when we turned it.
I am happy to say we did it! I must say, the installation of the faucet itself was a bit tedious (I had to hold it in place from above and it did not want to stay where it needed to) and if you need to do it by yourself I highly suggest just taking the sink out entirely. It is a two man job with the sink still installed in the counter.
We’ve been using the faucet for a few weeks now. I love the range of the swivel. It is very fluid and gives an excellent range of motion. You can swivel it clear to the side and have the entire sink clear of the faucet.
I was concerned that I would not like a swan neck faucet, but after the initial shock… I am in love with it! Over the years I’ve run into a few pots (or other items) that I was trying to fill with water and I just couldn’t get it positioned under the faucet easily without spilling it out half-way when removing it. The faucet head has a very long hose that fills our coffee pot on the counter. The hose slides effortlessly. I noticed the weight that we installed under the sink to help the recoil had a slider in it. It definitely helps.
My older kids love the Magnetite (magnet in the head) docking. Why… you may ask? Because they put the head in upside down to trick the next person at the sink. It sprays right at your face (okay… I giggled too). The multi-flow is intuitive and easy to use. It has an extra burst to make the stream a little stronger that resets itself when turned off. Overall… I would highly recommend this faucet to anyone! Yes, the price is a little prohibitive on a tight budget (ARV $306), but with a lifetime warranty it is well worth the money. Over time it will save you money.
