After losing several inches of my hair to breakage, I have a new found respect for the care it takes to maintain healthy locks. I looked high and low for a company that made quality hair tools and found Barbar.
So far I have reviewed their Titanium Ionic Flat Iron and their Eco 8000 Hair Dryer. I have come to find that not only does Barbar pride itself in quality hair products, they are also on a mission to help reduce our impact on the environment.
The Barbar Tourmaline Curling Iron creates beautiful, lasting curls. With four sizes to choose from, this curling iron covers any length! Tourmaline is a healing crystal that blocks radiation.

Straight out of the package I was immediately impressed with the Barbar 1200 Tourmaline Curling Iron. Just the “feel” of the iron… it was definitely a more substantial tool. I liked the professional power cord and the digital heat control. I never thought that would be important to me, but after my hair suffered major breakage I realized that you can overcook your hair and cause serious damage. My initial instinct was to turn it on at full power (200 degrees Celcius). I have slowly worked my way down to 170 degrees and have found that this curling iron does a fantastic job even at lower temperatures.
My very first curl… I burned my fingers. The grip at the tip of the curling iron is smaller than what I was used to. I stumbled with this issue for several uses. But… I have been using this daily for over a month now and I have grown accustomed to where I can grab the iron and no longer burn myself.
I mentioned I noticed the professional cord… I also love that it swivels! I no longer have to work at untangling my cord before putting the iron away. I also noticed my hair slides through the barrel with ease. I’m not sure what it is coated with, but even my product coated bangs do not stick to the barrel and I don’t have any caked on residue to deal with. Both of these were major issues with my old curling iron.
I have been a very loyal customer to a certain “mart” purchased curling iron for years and years. If one broke, I would just pick up another without considering the other choices… because it has worked for me and I didn’t question it. Sitting here thinking about the $25 I would drop each time it quit working I probably paid more for the cheap curling iron than I would for the Barbar in the end! The Barbar is far superior in quality, durability and function and as an added bonus the tourmaline helps block radiation from the heating element!
