Last September I reviewed Amy Michelle’s Lotus diaper bag. I was so thrilled with the quality, style and durability of it that when they asked if I would like to review the Cosmo diaper bag I jumped at the chance.

Why was I so excited to try the Cosmo? This bag looks nothing like a diaper. It has the look of a high end tote/large purse with all the functionality of a diaper bag inside.

This past weekend I went to Chicago for the Kenmore Bloggers Summit. I still do not carry a purse because I still need sippy cups, snacks, wipes and a change of clothes in case of accident with Ethan. I decided that the Cosmo bag was elegant and simple enough that I would bring that.

Boy was I glad I did! I put my much needed items (boarding pass, ID etc) in the front pouch. I loved that it was a decent size and securely closed with a turning knob. I wasn’t worried in the least that something would fall out and get lost.

The inside of the bag was perfect for travel! I filled the pockets with things like ibuprofen, feminine products, protein bars, hair picks, chap stick … you get the drift. Because I was limited to two carry-ons, I had to somehow combine my laptop with my purse. No problem with the Cosmo bag! I had my laptop (15” Macbook Pro in it’s slim case) in the center, my wallet and point and shoot camera also in the center, my iPad in the zipped pocket (where the changing pad stores) and a magazine. I could have stuffed more in, but it was getting pretty heavy by this point.

I headed to Chicago during a snow storm… good planning huh? With all the slushy crud people were tracking all over the place I didn’t have to worry about setting my bag down. The studs on the base help keep the base off the ground and clean (THANK YOU Amy & Michelle!).

So my final thoughts on the Cosmo bag? If you are needing the extra outside pockets, you will miss them at first. I have them on the Lotus and out of habit went to put a bottle of water on the outside side pocket (that wasn’t there obviously). BUT, there ARE two bottle sizes pockets in the same position on the inside that I easily slid my water into.

 

I love that this bag is chic and trendy, but so functional. The pearlized chocolate color is unique but is mature and doesn’t shout look at me! The room inside the bag is ample and even when only partially full it keeps it’s shape (doesn’t collapse in on itself). The red lining keeps it from becoming a “black hole” that you lose everything in while digging and it is antimicrobial to keep it clean. Since my kids have outgrown the binky, I use the binky holder as a key holder. This keeps them in the same spot and easily accessible when I need them. Let’s not forget the stroller attachments. Yes, Amy Michelle diaper bags cost more than you will find at the local “marts” or “baby store”, but I have learned from experience that those rip, tear and have to be replaced several times before your kids outgrown the need for one. I have used (and stuffed) Amy Michelle bags for months on end and they still look new without even a stress bulge on a seam.
