Attractively housed in brushed stainless steel, this four-slice toaster features extra-wide slots with self-adjusting guides to hold and evenly toast a wide variety of bread types and sizes. Dual electronic controls with three LED lights make it easy to toast bagels, breads, or favorite waffles and pastries–right out of the freezer. In addition, the toaster’s simple-to-use shade-selector knob offers five browning settings, and its cancel button stops the toasting cycle at any time. Other highlights include a variable time knob, a cool-touch exterior, a power indicator light, and an easy-to-clean design.
We have been using our old toaster for nearly 10 years. It is a standard white four slice toaster… but we like it because the slots on the right are “broken”. One side of each slot did not heat up, so we could easily toast one side of a bagel and not burn the other. I actually was beginning to hate that toaster though. Not because it didn’t function like we wanted, but because it was yellowing, old and was just out of date.
Then I found the Kalorik Toaster. The description and the stock photo caught my attention. It really is a nice looking toaster. I worried though because we have owned a metal toaster before and the fingerprints drove me bananas!
The toaster arrived and I was immediately impressed with the overall look. It was modern, the brushed stainless was not overly shiny and although it was a step up for just a standard toaster, the dials seemed to be pretty much self explanatory.
At lunch Emma requested a bagel. Yeah! My first opportunity to try the toaster out! I noticed that the slots were more than adequate for a bagel, but closed in nicely to hold it in place. I pushed the slat down and then touched the bagel button. At first I thought maybe the toaster was broken. I was used to the coils turning bright red on my old toaster. This toaster does more of a slower cook, but it popped up perfectly brown on one side only… yeah!
There are a couple of options on this toaster I have yet to try out. There is a “reheat” button for those times where you pop your toast in only to get distracted. When you return, your toast is now a cold rock. Been there? I know I have! There is also a “defrost” button for those time you have to snag a piece of bread from the freezer, but don’t want to wait for it to thaw.
I am impressed with everything about this toaster. It is not overly prone to fingerprints (my main fear), it is sleek and modern, the slots are extra wide and adequately hold a bagel, it cooks evenly and the extra cooking options are a huge plus!
