It’s been 17 weeks on Nutrisystem for myself and 13 weeks for Kaytlin.
Remember last week how I was griping and complaining because spring disappeared on me? I had asked my husband to pick up a copy of Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred so I had something I could do inside while waiting for Mother Nature to decide what she was going to do with herself.
I started working out with the DVD last Friday and did it for four days straight. It hurt like heck afterwards, but I was dedicated!
So why didn’t I do it the next two days?
Because… I’m a weenie.
I stepped on the scale mid week and freaked out when I saw a two pound gain! What the heck, right? Exactly! So I stopped.
My old mindset was playing tug of war with my “new” mindset. “To heck with that! You were losing weight not exercising… why bust your rear if you are going to gain?”.
My new mindset was telling me to hang tough. It’s all about how you feel (and I was feeling pretty darn good!) and how your body is changing. I “thought” it was changing… I was feeling smaller… my smaller jeans were fitting better.
My old mindset won out… for two days. Today I stepped on the scale and was totally bummed to have a gain. I mean, what the heck?! I moved more this week than I have in years.
Then I remembered… I took my measurements (for the first time darn it… in hindsight I wish I had taken them 17 weeks ago!) last weekend. I decided to see where this weight was settling and brought the tape measure out.
Want to know something????
Huh??? Do you???
This past week, although I had a 1 pound gain…
1/2 inch at my chest
1 1/2 inches at my waist (yes… 1 1/2”!)
1/2 inch on my hips
1/2 inch on my thighs
1/2 inch on my upper arms
I call that a BEYOND THE SCALE VICTORY! Woo Hoo! That totally made my day!
So… today I met my old/new friend Jillian in the living room for a 20 minute meeting and we jumped, grunted and sweated together. I may not meet with her daily… but I promise to meet with her 3-4 days a week! We made a date, I can’t back out (but if she puts more weight on me I might just toss a hand weight at her through the television!)!
That puts me at 25 lbs in 17 weeks

Kaytlin is staying strong, but she is fighting cravings tooth and nail. She said she is dying for pretzels with hummus, baked chips… you know, CARBS! She was very tempted to purchase some at work, but she didn’t (atta girl Kaytlin!).
She mentioned that a temp worker that hadn’t been to her job since January came in this past week and was gushing about how much she could tell Kaytlin was losing weight. I could see on her face how happy that made her when she was telling me :O). I am amazed at her transformation in just 3 months and I am so proud!
So, this week Kaytlin had a scale victory!
She lost 2.4 lbs.
That makes a total of 30.8 lbs in 13 weeks!
