It’s been 16 weeks on Nutrisystem for myself and 12 weeks for Kaytlin.
Spring had sprung (so I thought) here in Missouri and I was a happy camper this week! I spent a couple of hours one afternoon raking and burning the leaves and twigs that covered our backyard (darn willow trees!). Even though I smelled like a campfire when I was done, it felt good to be moving and doing something productive!
Pair that with a long 1 1/2 mile walk (that is loooooooong for my 4 and 2 year old… they hoofed it too!) and another day of house cleaning and I felt so much better this week! I even challenged Emma a few times during the walk to jog with me a tiny bit. We made it a “race” to the end of the sidewalk and somehow she beat me every time (darn youth! ;O).
It amazes me how much just a little movement every other day picks up your mood and keeps your motivation going.
I was sad to see it starting to snow yesterday. Now we are stuck under inches of snow (again). We are, yet again, stuck in the house. Snow day #8 for Joshua *sigh*.
*sniff sniff… pout pout*
“HELLO!!!! Mother Nature!?!
I’ve had enough, okay?
I’m ready for spring now… please!”
Enough of my griping… this too shall pass. I had my darling husband pick up the 30 Day Shred at the local library (we’ll see how many times I can shred it this week before giving up lol) so I can try something new while we are stuck inside again and I arranged a review for an elliptical (but that won’t be delivered until April darn it!).
Now that I’m moving, I like how I’m feeling!
When it was feeling like spring outside, I went digging for “on plan” desserts and remembered my old stand by… the strawberry shake. It’s super easy, quick and simple and fits into a Nutrisystem day easily. Enjoy!

Kaytlin is staying strong but having a hard time between work and school getting the foods in at the time they are supposed to be eaten. It’s not all about calories consumed, although that does play a large roll. It’s also about the glycemic index and keeping your blood sugars level so it doesn’t spike and fall… steady and level is the key.
I still think she is doing a fabulous job. Here and there she is noticing things she was doing wrong in her past that sabotaged her. Emma & Ethan were eating peanut butter crackers and Kaytlin turned the package over to read the nutritional label. This is something she may or may not have done in the past, but now she is finally able to understand what she is reading. She mentioned that she love(d/s) those but she would eat two packages in a sitting… and then after reading the label I heard a whispered “wow”.
Puzzle pieces are coming together and clicking.
Nutrisystem is helping to reprogram her thinking and understand what it is that her body needs.
This week Kaytlin had her first gain… just a tiny one… .4
She isn’t discouraged though because she has seen from my track record that weight fluctuates, but that doesn’t mean that is the end of the weight loss journey!
That makes a total of 28.4 lbs in 12 weeks!
