Weekly Weigh In Weeks 13 & 9 : 2/4/11 #NSNation

New NS Logoweeklyweighin

It’s been 13 weeks on Nutrisystem for myself and 9 weeks for Kaytlin.

To say my week started on a bad foot is an understatement. I was so bummed by my gain last week… the funk held on for a day or two. I was still true to the program, but your mental attitude goes a long way when making a lifestyle change.

I ate my dinners for lunch and my lunches for dinner this week. This was my attempt to change things up and confuse my body (why not, my mind was already confused). I have been reading online about how to break a plateau. It seems that after a while your body gets accustomed to you eating fewer calories and it needs a bit of a shock/change to get it moving in the right direction again.

I guess it worked… that and the pizza lunch I had yesterday with the family. I only had 2 slices and they were both veggie only with a tiny amount of cheese, 1 1/2 small pieces of (greasy) cheesy bread and 2 plates of salad (I brought my own salad dressing). I’m thinking the change surprised my body.

I wish I understood it all, but I’m just glad I didn’t throw a monkey wrench into the entire program with lunch yesterday. I felt guilty for eating “real pizza”. I don’t know why… I mean I didn’t over indulge. I think the years of yo-yo diets and mental games I’ve played with myself have done a bit of damage. Nutrisystem is slowing repairing my thinking process and I hope that by the time my program ends that I won’t feel guilty about occasionally indulging.

I have been wanting to share this other bit of information with you. It seems that people actually read my posts! I was told by two readers, over the course of a couple of weeks, that I inspired them to join the program! I was updated today by one woman in particular… she has lost 17 pounds in TWO WEEKS on Nutrisystem! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!?! I am so beyond excited for her… she is making a change in her life that will hopefully influence another person and the trickle down effect will happen.

Through my ups and downs, the support system from friends, the Nutrisytem personnel and the website have been there for me. I can’t remember ever sticking to a program this long and still have this much fight left in me.

My attitude has changed, my energy has changed (mental and physical), my way of thinking is slowly changing and my body is changing!

And OH! My neighbor (hasn’t seen me in weeks) saw me outside and called me the incredibly shrinking momma! :O)

So, now on to the real bread and butter…

How much did I lose?

I lost 3 lbs!

That puts me at 24.6 lbs in 13 weeks!

Week & -/+ Total Loss

week 13: -3 lbs 24.6 lbs

Kaytlin has seen a few changes this past week that are more than encouraging. She (and I) both suffer from PCOS. If you don’t know what it is… WebMD does a great job explaining it. It is more common that people realize and a lot of women suffer from it without realizing that is what is happening.

I am super excited that she is noticing her symptoms diminishing! PCOS is a double edged sword… excess weight magnifies the symptoms. It can cause weight gain (about 10 lbs a year), but it also makes it very hard to lose weight (she and I are insulin resistant… which can lead to diabetes). I’m hoping the symptoms will continue to diminish for her.

So, drum roll please………………….

She lost .8 lbs this week!

That makes a total of 25.6 lbs in nine weeks!

So, last week I said it’s ON baby! She’s still ahead by a pound. I’m trying though!

Week & –/+ Total Loss
week 1: – 8.8 lbs 8.8 lbs
week 2: – 2.2 lbs 11.0 lbs
week 3: – 2 lbs 13 lbs
week 4: – 2 lbs 15 lbs
