US Olympic Swim Trials Wrap Up Monday July 2 | Twitter Party |#SwimToday

Have you been watching? This week has been chock full of US Olympic Swim Trials. The best of the best are going head to head for a spot on the US Olympic team. We were able to watch a couple of nights and of the four of us sitting on the couch watching… none of us could take our eyes off the races!

It’s so hard to describe how watching a swim race makes you feel. To me, it’s exhilarating, adrenaline pumping, emotional and just plane exciting to watch these men and women give it their all for their chance to go to London and compete against the worlds finest athletes. I consider myself a strong swimmer, but to see the strength, endurance and speed that they possess humbles you!

I spent some time on Twitter this week as well during one of the trials. Were you there? It’s fun to see everyone’s individual reactions to races. I can only imagine the Twitter stream for the Olympics!

There’s still time to catch some of these amazing races! Tonight at 8 PM EST the finals for the Men’s 200 m Individual Medley will be airing race LIVE. Phelps and Lochte will once again go head to head. If you haven’t seen them race… it’s a must see. These two are speed demons and to see how far ahead of everyone else they were… simply amazing. It is sure to be a fantastic race!!

Don’t forget to tune in on Sunday night and Monday night. One of the important races that night includes the Women’s 50 m freestyle where 45 year old Dara Torres will attempt to make her sixth Olympic team. Will this be her year to finally get the gold?

I love watching all things Olympic and was able to attend the winter games in 2002. It is one of my dreams in life to attend the games again someday.

    • Oh how FUN! I’d love to go.. I get goosebumps just thinking about going!

  2. I probably won’t make the party, but we do like watching in our home. My son was on the swim team last season at school. I saw this on a shirt: “Dear God, if I have 1 day left to live, let me live it at a swim meet. Those things last forever.” He wants me to buy it for him. It’s on my to do list.

  3. I am sorry to say I have not watched it. It is hard to have something you are so into end though. Glad to see that they have done so well!

I just recently started to do twitter parties and am really enjoying them! Thanks for the info, I will definitely try to attend. 🙂

I love the olympics – every 4 years these athletes show us they can go faster, higher and better than ever before. many are young and we encourage them just as we would our own children. And then the returning Olympians like Dara really get me emotional. we cheer them all the more for coming back again and again putting in the effort to hone skills to excel despite their age. I can remember the american kayak team asking for donations in the Wash DC mass transit station maybe 12 years back. Some people were quick to criticize but that team represented the majority of our athletes who go to the games. They compete in relatively obscure sports and get little attention, little sponsorship and struggle to pay for it all.
The AmericanTV coverage focuses on certain high interest sports and make those competitors into celebrities, focusing interviews and coverage time on them. We should see all our athletes compete in all the sports.

  6. I absolutely have always loved the olympics since I was just a very little kid. I always find myself glued to the television! Of course my fav’s are the gymnastics, swimming, diving and track and field. Summer olympics tend to be my favorite over the winter! So here we go. Gearing up!

    • I’m with you, loving the summer Olympics. Maybe it’s because I hate being cold and snow makes me chilly? LOL

I haven’t watched any of the swim trials, but a little track and it amazes me of the years of hard work they do and it’s over so quickly!

  8. Amy Martin says

IS it an olympic year? Or is this for next year? I’m so out of the loop.

  9. Melissa Duet says

My husband and I enjoy watching to Olympics, and the trials even though I love watching the swimming, I have always been a gymnastics girl and am so excited and ready for the olympics to start :).
