When I first saw the Ubbi “Can of Steel” on Ellen I instantly fell in love with the style and the colors… yes the MANY colors it comes in. I was thrilled when Ubbi asked if I’d like to review one (free of charge, all opinions are 100% mine).

Everything seems to be made from plastic now a days and I love when i find something that is metal. I love everything from the look of the metal, that it won’t absorb odors like plastic to the fact that it will stand up longer then something plastic. I chose the Ubbi diaper pail in the new Pistachio green color. When it arrived I didn’t think I would ever be so excited to be unpacking a diaper pail!

Photo3
The Ubbi diaper pail is a powder coated steel with rubber seals to prevent any lingering smells that can be left behind in a plastic pail. The sleek design on the steel pail allows for you to be able to wipe it down easily when needed.

My favorite feature of the pail is that I don’t need to run to the store to buy special fitted bags for the pail. You can use any tall kitchen bags, plastic liners or even cloth liners. Ubbi also carries a biodegradable plastic bag and a reusable cloth diaper bag that can be rewashed for continues uses. Since I do cloth diapers I was very excited to see that I could use the cloth diaper pail liner with this pail!

Ubbi also sent a cloth pail liner to try with their pail. It inserts just like any of the other plastic bags would. With the cloth liner in I use the pail normally. When the pail is full I take out the whole bag, shake it into the washer and then throw in the bag to get washed and cleaned so I can use it over again.

When using kitchen bags, I found that you do need to use the tall bags so that the bag is sitting on the bottom of the pail. Otherwise as you put diapers in the pail it pulls the bag off of the bag holder and the bag falls inside the pail.

Photo6
The cloth diaper liner fits great in the pail leaving lots of slack for falling diapers so there is no slipping of the bag at all. The design of the pail makes it very easy to insert a new bag and unload the full bags. The cloth pail liner is a 13 gallon capacity, waterproof, odor resistant, and closes with a draw string.

To be honest, I was a little worried that every time I would open the pail to put in another diaper I would get blasted with stinky diaper odor. But No! Ubbi has designed the pail to open with a sliding lid to prevent air movement that prevents the smells from escaping. No more lifitng a lid every time to put in a new diaper. Lifting the lid creates a suction making the smells pull up with the lid. I did notice a very slight smell when I would drop in a diaper but I’m sure that is from the air that diaper displaced. It was nothing like our old pail and when the pail is closed I don’t notice any smells at all.

Photo9
The Ubbi also comes with a child lock on the top of the pail to prevent little hands sliding the pail open and pulling dirty diapers out.

Photo10
The Ubbi diaper pail has a slim design allowing you to fit the pail even in tight places. If you like the modern look, style, design, colors and the fact that it is an odor minimizer then this is a great pail for you. You can pick out of a great selection of colors to match your room or to simply add a pop of color in a room that is eye catching. There are also decals you can purchase for your pail to decorate and style it to how you like.
