Step2 All Around Easel for Two

Step2 All Around Easel for Two

My Emma has always loved doing arts and crafts, but since starting kindergarten (art class is her favorite) her desire has intensified. I love to encourage this activity, but having my kitchen table strewn with paper, crayons, markers and paint eventually drives me crazy.

With Emma’s 6th birthday approaching we decided that the Step2 All Around Easel for Two would make a fabulous gift for her.

I have become the designated toy assembler in the house and anticipated several screws as with most other Step2 toys. It used to irritate me, but then I rationalized with myself. Step2 toys last for years (and years). Their construction plays a big part in this longevity. To my surprise, though, there were minimal amounts of screws this time. Assembly was fairly quick, a few of the pieces snapped in and the rest screwed together to form a solid foundation for the kids to be creative on. I love simplicity.

The All Around Easel for Two features a vertical writing surface that makes developing proper writing skills fun! Made in USA. Accessories, dry erase board and foam magnets made in China.

  • Vertical writing surfaces encourage development of proper writing skills and creativity too!
  • Features a chalk board on one side and a magnetized dry erase board on the other
  • Includes a clip to secure artwork, two removable and easy to clean storage bins and a 94 piece foam magnet letter & symbol kit

I had the kids stand next to the easel so you could get an idea on the height. Emma is a small six year old and Ethan is a tall 4 year old. Emma is a little too tall to comfortably draw for long lengths of time standing, but she doesn’t mind kneeling in the least (if was her idea actually). I haven’t heard a single complaint from her and they use this on almost a daily basis.

I did a little review digging to find a quality dry erase marker that wouldn’t leave ghost marks behind and purchased a very large pack. Having a wide variety of colors to experiment with leads to highly creative drawings that just warm my heart. Both the kids enjoy the chalk board side but get a little irritated that it’s a little harder to get a clean slate to work with when they finish a project.

I’m loving the small footprint of this easel. We don’t allow toys to “live” outside of the kids bedrooms, but this easel is an exception. I like having it available for impromptu drawing sessions and we have been surprised a couple of times with a drawing that was left behind. This particular one we found the day after the election:

Now if only the kids would learn to put the lids back on the markers every time they use them we would all be happy campers! Did I mention that the white board is magnetic? The kids like putting words together and trying to create new words. I highly recommend this easel for the budding artists in your life!
