Spring Fever Sponsor Spotlight | Microsoft Office Home & Business 2010

As a Windows Champion, I have come to love products like Microsoft Office that I now use on almost a daily basis. My latest review of Office 2010 gave a quick overview from the productivity standpoint with all of the components including Word 2010, Excel 2010, Powerpoint 2010, OneNote 2010, and Outlook 2010.

With spring here, I’d like to focus on organization. One of my favorite ways to stay on top of things is with OneNote.

Microsoft OneNote 2010 is a digital notebook that provides a single place where you can gather all of your notes and information, with the added benefits of powerful search capabilities to find what you are looking for quickly, plus easy-to-use shared notebooks so you can manage information overload and work together with others more effectively.

Unlike paper-based systems, word processing programs, e-mail systems, or other productivity programs, OneNote delivers the flexibility to gather and organize text, pictures, digital handwriting, audio and video recordings, and more — all in one digital notebook on your computer. OneNote can help you become more productive by keeping the information you need at your fingertips and reducing time spent searching for information across e-mail messages, paper notebooks, file folders, and printouts.

OneNote 2010 is an integrated part of Microsoft Office 2010, which makes it easy to gather, organize, find, and share your notes and information more efficiently and effectively. Powerful search capabilities can help you locate information from text within pictures or from spoken words in audio and video recordings. And easy-to-use collaborative tools help teams work together with all of this information in shared notebooks, whether online or offline.

With all of your information at your fingertips, OneNote provides you a solution for information overload, enables you to work with others more effectively, and helps you stay on top of tasks, schedules, and team information. The familiar look and feel of the Microsoft Office system makes it easy to start using the program right away, minimizing wasted time and training costs.

OneNote 2010 allows you to apply built-in templates, to apply your own custom templates, and to browse a variety of OneNote templates on Office.com (including notebooks, pages, and sections templates). These are free to download and use and incredibly useful!

Simplify your spring landscape project. Organize your ideas, budget and time!

Are you moving this spring/summer? I know keeping on top of all the information can be overwhelming.

Not with OneNote… now you’ve got one place to organize estimates, countdowns, tips, notifications and it includes an eight week countdown checklist so you won’t run into any surprises.

What about trip planning?

With a family of six, I am always writing stuff down as it pops into my head because chances are I will forget it. This template will keep you on top of everything so you don’t run into any unexpected surprises.

There are so many more templates to choose from I could go on for pages! Student organizers, wedding planners, address books, nutritional journals, health histories and camping checklists to start you off.

One of the best features of OneNote… you can share it. Not just by email… seriously… you can share it with anyone over the web or on your Windows Phone! The app is there, really. Go check! If you have an iPhone, you can download the app from iTunes.

In Microsoft OneNote 2010, you can share a notebook so that you can access it on other computers or on the Web, or so that you can work in it together with other people.

Taking notes as a group is a collaborative process. As a collaborative tool, OneNote offers far more than the ability to send static notebook pages via e-mail. Depending on the nature of your projects, you can use OneNote to brainstorm together with other people in meetings, use the notebook pages as a virtual whiteboard, and set up shared notebooks in which everyone can view, add, and edit information.

Unlike other programs that "lock" files for editing by one person at a time, OneNote 2010 lets multiple authors access a shared notebook at the same time. Anytime someone edits to the pages and sections in the shared notebook, OneNote automatically synchronizes the changes so that the notebook is always up-to-date for everyone.

OneNote also maintains a separate offline copy of the notes on each user’s computer. That way, shared note-taking participants can continue to edit the notes locally even when they are temporarily disconnected from the network. The next time they connect to the shared notebook, OneNote automatically merges their changes with the changes made by everyone else.

So now you have a more in depth view of one of my favorite aspects of Microsoft Windows Office Home & Business 2010. Even if you aren’t in the workforce, OneNote works great for sharing lists with family… lists like groceries, packing lists, guest lists or you could even make a family letter together. Even without the sharing feature, OneNote has everything in one spot to help keep your head on your shoulders.

If you’d like a little more clarification, this is one of the best videos I found on YouTube that gives an overview of why OneNote is so great…
