Scholastic My Amusement Park & Digging for Dinosaurs for Nintendo DS
Kids step into the driver’s seat to build and maintain their very own theme park in My Amusement Park. This amusement park simulation allows them to choose from four original park plans. Then they start to add rides (like the Pirate Ship, the Super Coaster and more), food venues and special attractions to build a successful theme park. They earn money by playing logic and puzzle games (hey, learning!), then they can se the money to keep adding onto the park.
My Amusement Park allows children to use their imagination and creativity to control the simulated park while still remaining age-appropriate and manageable for younger players.
Digging for Dinosaurs is a fun and informative (aka educational) game that allows players to engage in a variety of distinctive mini-games that range from simulated paleontological digs to dinosaur battles, all while learning interesting facts about 21 different dinosaur species. Engage as a Triceratops battling the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex, an Eoraptor hunting its prey or an Archaeopeteryx taking flight. This helps them gain extra insight and knowledge into what it took to live as a dinosaur millions of years ago. Each mini-game features three difficulty levels, allowing players to increase the challenge.
There are a few moments of violence during games in which a dinosaur must fight for its food or protect its young from predators, but nothing is depicted in a realistic or graphic manner.
There are very few video games geared towards the younger player that are actually educational. I am very pleased to share these two games with you. If you plan to purchase a DS during the holidays, or if your gift recipient already has one I would add these games to my shopping list!
You can purchase Digging for Dinosaurs for $18.05 on Amazon.com (RV $19.99)
