Ohio Flame Fire Pit Review | The Patriot 24” Fire Pit

My husband and I enjoy sitting outside and enjoying the sounds of nature, especially on a crisp fall evening. It seems, though, that the older I get the more cold affects my joints… so we haven’t enjoyed an afternoon or evening “out” in quite a while. I have been casually shopping for a fire pit for quite some time, not quite sure what attributes I was looking for other than I knew I wanted it to look nice and  last (aka not rust out quickly). Ohio Flame has a small collection of just what I was looking for.

I was sent a 24” The Patriot Fire Pit. My first reaction when the best fire pit arrived and before it was even out of the box was “Oh my GOSH!”… I could barely pick it up. I could tell it was a substantial piece and found out later that the pit actually weighs in at a whopping 43 pounds. That is 43 pounds of 3/16” thick high carbon American steel sourced from local steel mills. No wonder my poor delivery man nearly dragged it up the steps.

After my husband helped me remove it from the box, I noticed immediately that it is one solid piece. There are no parts to break or wear out… ever. That means no maintenance. I could tell that Ohio Flame is serious about it’s fire pits… they are designed to last a lifetime and will withstand exposure to year-round elements with ease.

Another feature that drew my attention immediately was the center of the fire bowl. “The Patriot” features a 3/8″ Rain Drain to allow for water drainage. This means that the snow that is building up inside the bowl during the winter or rain water through the rest of the year can drain affectively. No standing water to go stagnant and gross.

It seems that Ohio Flame had every attribute I was looking for. I especially appreciate the natural steel finish. I have been told that it will develop a natural oxide patina and gradually darken over time. Although I love the aesthetics of the fire pit right now, I know that it will age with character instead of rusting out like the fire pits I’ve noticed in my neighbors backyards.

So we finally got a warmer (40 degrees) winter day and the snow has melted enough in spots for us to put our chairs out … so we went out for an afternoon “sit”. As you can see from the photo, the 24” bowl is more than ample for several people to gather around and definitely tossed off enough warmth to keep me outside longer than usual.

I have to say I am very proud to tell you about The Patriot Fire Pit. If you consider than a “cheaper” model at a local store will run you around $100 – $200 and will generally rust out and be unpleasant to look out within 2-4 years, the $250 price tag for the Ohio Flame Patriot 24” fire pit is a steal. With a Lifetime Warranty that guarantees that your fire pit will not rust through in your lifetime it will be the only fire pit you will ever need.

I too have looked so many times for a good fire pit. I tell my husband all the time that it would be nice to go out and sit outdoors as a family with a nice little fire to keep us warm. I have also seen so many that rust out so quickly and would never know where to begin looking for one. This one seems it will fit the bill!! Sounds great!

  3. That is awesome. Nothing like a nice wood fire to warm your bones on a cool evening. I really like your fire Pit. The 3/16 steel is great too. Looks sturdy and made for a many fires to come. Enjoy and thanks for the review on this product.
