Little Pick Me Ups for Moms to Feel Great Throughout the Day

Let’s be honest for just a second. As blessed as you are to be a mom, the role isn’t easy, by far. On a daily basis, you are required to be there for your kids physically, emotionally, and even financially. Even with the support of a loving spouse, family, or friends, being a mom is challenging. Getting through each day is nothing short of a miracle, but having little pick-me-ups along the way can sure make it a lot easier.

Drink a Cup of Tea

Though there’s nothing wrong with drinking a cup of coffee on occasion to get you through the day, try indulging in a cup of tea for a change. Tea is packed with antioxidants, it can improve your immune system, ward off certain illnesses and diseases, improve your heart health, and there are even some teas designed to boost your mood. Try drinking a cup of tea when you feel yourself getting stressed out or overwhelmed for a quick pick-me-up you likely weren’t expecting.

Light a Candle

Yup. You read that right. Something as simple as lighting a candle can help lift your spirits as a busy mom. Candles help to create a calm and welcoming environment. As scent can also help to evoke emotion, lighting candles can also help to put you in a good mood. Lastly, burning candles made from essential oils also add health benefits including boosting your mood relieving stress and anxiety, and much more.

Listen to a Book

You may not have time to pick up a book and read but listening can be just a therapeutic. Books allow you to get lost in a world outside of your own. When you’re able to do this, it eases your stress and anxiety and puts you in a better mood. Download a few books you’re interested in reading and listen to them on your way to work, while running errands, or for a few minutes before turning in for the night.

Self-Massage

Who says that you have to spend money you don’t have to go to a massage therapist for relief? When you’re looking for a little pick-me-up as a busy mom, all you need is a few minutes, some therapeutic oils, and your hands (or a massaging device) and you’re good to go. Been experiencing backaches or body aches? You can easily find out where to purchase CBD oil and use it to rub all over your body after a nice shower to relieve your pain and improve your mood.

Go for a Walk

Too much time indoors does nothing for your mental or physical well-being. So, if you find yourself feeling down, stressed out, or overwhelmed, take a break for a few minutes and get outside. Taking a 10 to 15-minute walk allows you to tap into nature, breathe in some fresh air, gain perspective, reduce your stress, and boost your mood.

Write in a Journal

Your mind is constantly overwhelmed with negative thoughts, to-do lists, and other things that can put a damper on your mood. You can lift your spirits throughout the day by decluttering your mind with a journal. Writing in a journal for a few minutes allows you to get out the negative emotions you might be experiencing which can provide relief. It can also be a source of happiness and hope if you opt to write words of affirmation or encouraging sentences down to review when you find yourself feeling overwhelmed.

Take a Bath

You may not be able to do this every night, but once or twice a week, taking a bath can really boost your spirits. After you’ve gotten the kids to bed, draw yourself a nice hot bath and be sure to set the mood. Dim the lights, light some candles, turn on some soothing music, grab a book  you’ve been wanting to read (or your tablet to watch a show), add some essential oils and bath salts for aromatherapy, and sit back and relax for at least 30 minutes.

With all the hats a mother wears and responsibilities she has, it’s only natural to feel emotionally drained at times. Ignoring the matter will only cause things to get out of hand. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you simply learn how to find small ways to lift your spirits, relax, and pick yourself up so you can continue to be there for your kids.
