#IWasSoTired Confessions | #WIN $1,000 Bed Bath & Beyond Bedroom Makeover [CLOSED]

#IWasSoTired Confessions | #WIN $1,000 Bed Bath & Beyond Bedroom Makeover
I have received information and materials from McNeil Consumer Healthcare, Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc., the makers of TYLENOL®. The opinions stated are my own. This is a sponsored post.
As a mother to four, I have had many (many) sleepless nights. Whether it’s due to the newborn honeymoon stage, a toddler teething, or even my older children with a bout of the stomach flu… it has happened to me more times than I can count.

DSC03459-01

Many people struggle to fall asleep or simply stay asleep night after night. As a result they feel physically, mentally and emotionally drained.

At times, an individual’s inability to sleep changes them. It impacts who they are, how they feel, and how they interact with the people they care about most.

It can also result in the occasional silly slip…like misplacing your daughter’s ballet shoes in the refrigerator or calling a co-worker by the wrong name.

Screen Shot 2015-03-31 at 12.08.20 PM

In recognition that these silly things sometimes happen when you don’t get enough sleep, TYLENOL® PM is launching a social program that rewards consumers for sharing these #IWasSoTired confessions.

My #IWasSoTired Confession:

I have one moment in particular that I was incredibly tired from being up all night with one of the littles. My older kids were in the kitchen discussing lunch options when I made mention of chicken nuggets. In my mind it was quick, easy and I could possibly lay down for a quick snooze. I don’t remember what their objection was to my suggestion, but I do remember responding to them that they were “Picky Chicken”… of course meaning to say that they were picky children but mixing it up with the chicken I was suggesting. The roar of laughter from the kids was enough to snap me out of my sleepwalk and we all got a good laugh out of it. My littles are now 6 and 8 and my family still brings up “picky chicken” when someone is being picky about a food choice.

Does today count? Very little sleep last night, but haven’t done anything silly so far.

  6. Sue E says

I either sleep soundly or not at all – I have no happy medium!! I have said I have forgotten things when I haven’t!! The other day, my husband was talking to me about our one granddaughter. I said that I missed her & wished that she was here so that I could hug her. My husband replied, “Honey, she is asleep on your lap!” DUH!!!

  7. Rebecca Parsons says

I can imagine there will be some great videos this one is cute. What is this sleep they speak of!

  15. Nicole Dziedzic says

Very cute story! The Picky Chicken is quite funny. I remember one time I was so tired and barely got any sleep and once I finally did, I swear it felt like I just fell asleep, and my husband was trying to wake me up, and I said, “I don’t want to go to school.” I guess it cane from something from the kids previously that day. But I meant to say that I did not want to go to work.

  16. Nothing can make you tired like a new baby… when my son was born, I felt like a zombie!

  17. David Fultner says

  29. Birdiebee says

I must do embarrassing things every day as I never sleep more than 1 hour a night. I did notice as I walk to the mailbox the other morning in my pj’s that I had put them on inside out. I sometimes wear two different shoes after having sleepless nights.

  30. Richard Hicks says

Going to be a lot of interesting confessions!

  31. I can’t remember doing anything embarrassing after having a sleepless night. I have had many over the last couple of years due to almost no discs left in my lower back, osteoarthritis and tons of pain medication that really hasn’t helped no matter what the docs have tried.

  39. Karen Glatt says

I think that this is an awesome contest to win a bedroom makeover, and my room needs it! I bet the responses are funny!

  40. I would enjoy reading these! I have been there. I worked on a job where I drove up to 12 hours a day, and once on the 4th day in a row, I was zonked, and yelled at my kids for almost nothing. They started laughing hysterically. I snapped at them and asked what was so funny, they said I was yelling at them with a smile plastered on my face.

  41. I entered! Thanks so much!

One time i was so tired in the morning I put salt instead of sugar in my coffee it was pretty gross but at least it woke me up after that lol.

  47. Robin W says

I would love to win…but I can’t honestly think of something embarrassing I have done. But I’m too tired to think right now. I’ll have to ask my husband.

  48. heather says

I can’t think of anything at the moment too tired.

  49. Ashley S says

I cannot think of an embarrassing moment which was caused by little to no sleep. This is a funny campaign, it really made me laugh!

  50. Richard Hicks says

I have put things into the fridge before realizing they dont belong there~!

  51. Cindy Merrill says

I would enter, but we don’t have a Smart phone for Instagram. I once opened a can of caviar and put it in my cats’ dishes by mistake early in the morning. I’m stil trying to live it down.

  64. Karen Glatt says

So many mistakes are made when a person is tired. I know that I messed up when I was tired all the time.

I loved watching these. I was so tired once that I put the box of spaghetti in the refrigerator and called my grandchildren in to help me find it and they found it. To this day I still hear about putting the box of spaghetti in the refrigerator.

  72. Amy Orvin says

It would be a dream come true to win this.

  90. G K says

I think we all have sleepless nights. I’ve had problems sleeping since I was a kid. I just can’t seem to unwind sometimes. On those days where I’ve gotten little sleep, I’ve definitely done some funny things. It’s a great idea to have people tell these embarrassing stories and get rewarded for it.

  91. Cynthia R says

I just saw the one about putting in wife’s contacts and the person doesn’t even wear contacts, lol.

  92. courtney b says

    I totally understand this!!!

and $1000 to bed bath and beyond would be amazing! 🙂 thanks! xoxoxoxo

  93. Sandy Weinstein says

great campaign, but dont have instagram. i have a lot of sleepless nights but it has to do with me being a nightowl, i inherited insomnia from my mother and i have neck and shoulder pain from a car accident so cant get comfortable at night. i have been so tired sometimes that i just forget things, put things in the fridge that dont belong there, etc.

  99. Anne says

Funny how little things like a slip of the tongue become part of a family’s lexicon. “Picky chicken” will always mean something to you and your kids, but like any good inside joke, no one outside your family will have a clue what you’re all smiling about. Thanks for sharing your cute story.

  100. Cindy Merrill says

This often happens to me when I’m too sleep to pay attention: Putting a heaping spoon of sugar instead of dried creamer in my coffee, very annoying.

  101. Dawn F says

I never get enough sleep. I’d love to enter this sweepstakes but I can’t bring myself to share a photo. 🙂 Look forward to seeing others posts though.

  107. Jesselyn A/Jesstinger says

So many real “winners” how could they possibly choose one to be “the best” ???

Wish I’d known about this one before the 5/1/15 deadline: my whole life has been composed of “I was so tired that I…” moments….

  108. Min K says

  116. Sharon Rooney says

It is funny the mistakes that you make when you are tired. Love reading the posts that people are making for the contest

  117. courtney hennagir says

This is such a great campaign! I feel like I could fill a book with all of the crazy things I have done after very little sleep and with mommy brain!

  118. I was so tired from a sleepless night and got up early because of it, I slipped down some stairs.- not an entire flight but enough to make me realize no more walking downstairs without lights on

  119. Birdiebee says

Every night for the past 9 1/2 years has been sleepless for me. I have been to several doctors to no avail. I’ve tried medications, natural alternatives, a new bed, you name it but still no sleep.

  120. CR Williams says

I definitely identify with this post, I tend to get really tired.

  121. This sounds like a great and excellent campaign. Thanks for the information.

  122. shelly peterson says

what a great contest, I could use a bedroom make over.

  123. Jo-Ann Brightman says

This campaign really shows how important sleep is to each person

  124. Anita L says

I can relate to loss of sleep, but it has nothing to do with having a baby at home. I guess menopause is to blame.

  125. Heather Hollands says

The contest is expired, but I have a friend whose husband was so tired that he brushed his teeth with her Vagisil. Eek!

  126. sarah hirsch says

It is definitely tiring having a newborn around the house! 🙂

  127. Jesselyn A/Jesstinger says

When I am sleep deprived (which is way too often) I tend to make really dumb mistakes ~ especially forgetting things (this always happens when we a leaving to go on a trip) and my response-time is way off (slow!) which I really notice when I have to drive (which I do all I can to avoid)

Now that I’m older the worst is basically just falling asleep suddenly anywhere ~ which is dangerous: standing up I might suddenly just fall (usually, mercifully landing on my butt!) or if I’m at my desk I’ll invariably knock over a glass of water or cup of coffee. (I can’t tell you how many keyboards I had to replace over the years ~ now I just keep beverages a safe distance away as I can’t afford to replace the whole laptop!)

Let me also add that I know from experience VERY FIRST HAND that Tylenol PM really works as a sleep aid as well as a pain-killer. The first time I took it – it literally knocked my socks off ~ not sure why since the added ingredient is essentially just an anti-histimine….)

And finally, it goes without saying that I very much need a Bed, Bath & Beyond makeover ~ literally and figuratively!

  128. This would be so great to win. It also is great to learn how to not be so tired all the time.

  129. Lily Kwan says

This sweepstakes sounds very fun. Thanks for sharing!

  130. Richard Hicks says

Thanks for the heads up on this. I am sure a lot of people will participate including myself!

  131. Julie Lundstrom says

This so true. I remember many nights like this.

  135. Cynthia C says

I guess I’m pretty lucky because I sleep very well.

  136. Sandy Weinstein says

i have insomnia badly. my mother had it as well. i find i cant find things or keep my thought process straight when i am tired and sleepy. i go into a room to get something and cant remember what i wanted, or i may put something in a safe place and then cant find it.

  137. Sandy Weinstein says

i find i cant think correctly or function when i have not slept. i have insomnia as well did my mother, so it is inherited. i cant concentrate or make sense when i am holding a conversation. it cant remember where i am driving and end up somewhere else.

  138. James Robert says

I sure could use this, especially being in process of remodeling mine

  139. Rebecca Kellerman says

I can relate to flubbing up due to lack of sleep. I bet the submissions will be so funny!

  140. Charlotte says

I have told the dogs to ‘be quiet’ when I was tired, as if they understand, hah.

  141. beth shepherd says

I remember many nights like that. It was a truly amazing time.

  142. Mary Beth Elderton says

Sleep is an all-or-nothing thing for me. A couple of nights ago, I was wide awake at 1 am. I put a coat of stain on a piece of furniture, baked mini meatloaves, set some cabbage to ferment, started the dishwasher, packed Hubz’ lunch—then got dressed to start the day. By the end of the day, I was gaga loopy.

  143. Kristyl says

I’m a sleepy chicken everyday!!!! Hahaha

  144. Kelli Wood says

I was so tired this week from my husband being gone for a week now on a business trip to London! All while I stayed home with the kid. Just myself and the 8 year old all day and night long! lol

  145. B.W. says

When you don’t get enough sleep, you feel like you’re drunk. It can actually be a hilarious situation, as long as it doesn’t become dangerous (it’s also always a fine line for me between sleep delirious and cranky).

  146. Francene Johnson says

I had to stop taking Ambien because I was having conversations and eating in my sleep lol

  147. Wendy Jabkowski says

This is a great contest, I’m not sure how I will pick just one moment LOL.

I was quite late picking my son up from a sports practice from oversleeping

  150. Karen Propes says

I have those sleepless night also. I have MS and I go to sleep and wake up and just can’t get back to sleep. When I’m very tired I have been known to bunp into a few walls when I get up. It goes back to the days when my Mom said don’t run with scissors -walking sleepy can be dangerous also, you must always look out for kids, toys and pets.

  151. Joey Wright says

Oh i have quite a few moments of my wife and I! Thanks for sharing.

  152. Regina Wright says

I just realized this contest is no longer active. I still went searching for the hashtags. I’ve had some funny moments!!

  153. Nia says

I was so tired I filled a bottle with milk for my son before I put the drop in bottle liner in! Lol. Milk all over the counter and a hungry baby

  154. Richard Hicks says

Most days I am tired. LOL

  155. Barbara Montag says

I have difficulty getting a full night’s sleep also.
A bedroom makeover would be so much fun!

  156. Sarah Matos says

Sleep is still non existent and my girls are 6 and 9! I may never remember a good nights sleep!

  157. CR Williams says

I can’t really think of anything. I never had a problem with sleepless nights. I always get a goodnights rest.

  158. Karen Propes says

I really need more sleep, but when I don’t; I will bump into walls and feel off balanced. When I was young, I would sleep walk. The doctor told my parents that it was because I didn’t get enough sleep. But the one of the worse things was the morning my Dad told me that I was up studying at the kitchen table the night before. I asked him why didn’t he wake me up, he replied: ” Well you were drinking milk and since you don’t like milk, I thought it would be good for you”.

  159. George Walters says

This is an interesting social experiment!
Unfortunately, I can’t exactly contribute because I almost always get a good night’s rest.

  160. Jaclyn Reynolds says

I’ve haven’t been a good sleeper since having children, I’m always on alert. I take melatonin to get some added quality zzzz’s. I won’t drive if I don’t feel rested. It’s hard to function on little to no sleep.

  161. Darla Peduzzi says

This sounds like such fun. I’m sure the responses will be interesting.

  162. Dawn Monzu says

Well…I’m sure I did many things when my kids were little, but I can’t think of anything except I would just let my kids come sleep with me! I was way too tired to fight with them, so they all ended up in my bed by the morning!

  163. I am glad that I haven’t got a problem going to sleep. I would not want to have the problem.

  164. It is great to not be so tired. My heart goes out.

  165. I am glad this helps to those who have this problem. That is nice.

  166. Margot C says

How cute is that! My mother used to always say ‘nosey parker’ if we were being obnoxiously inquisitive. I never knew what it came from and now I can’t ask her. Maybe it was something like that.

  167. leisl gering says

What a funny post. We have some picky chickens around here too.

  168. Susan Moseley says

  187. hannah says

I completely understand what you’re saying. When I’ve had little to no sleep, I mix up words constantly. I tend to say the word that rhymes with the word I want to say. Like say ‘fat’ instead of ‘ cat’. It is so annoying!

We still laugh about it. Good luck, hope you win.

  202. Linda Stewart says

I spent years raising my children as a single parent. Just when I thought I would start having “ME” time and life would slow down a little bit, I was tossed into being a single grandparent, raising her grandchildren. My oldest daughter didn’t sleep through the night until she was almost 16 months old. My youngest was a total 180 so I thought I had the sleep thing figured out! When I took my oldest grandson home from the hospital, of course I figured it would be a breeze since I’d already raised my daughters. BOY was I fooled! It was horrific. Peyton slept but only until it was bedtime and the only one who could console him was his nanny. It was as if Mama wasn’t anywhere to be found, he wanted Nanny (8 years later and it’s still the same!). I went through this process with two more grandsons. None of the three boys wanted their mama’s … they wanted their nanny! I am eight, almost nine years into raising grandchildren and realize that I’m too old for this!! The boys are 8, 6, & 5 … 13 year … 13 years … 13 years … then hopefully I’ll get that “ME” time 🙂

  203. Elena says

I need new mattress. I don’t sleep good at night

  210. Melissa Allison says

I remember when I was the mom of 3 small children – ages 3 and under! I went through the house, to the kitchen. I had a dirty diaper in one hand, and a bottle in the other. My intentions were to throw away the diaper and place the bottle in the refrigerator. However, my sleep deprived brain had other plans, and the diaper ended up in the fridge and the bottle went in the trash. When I went to retrieve the bottle from the fridge later that day – I found the massive stench of a dirty diaper instead! Oh, how I don’t miss those days! 🙂

  215. Eileen Richter says

with 6, I’ve had far too many TOO TIRED stories, especially when the dad always fakes sleep to avoid that dreaded night time crAzIneSS! LOL. yeah, that happened. The lost sleep and craziness is always what puts me in brain drain. Like many others, I tumble through my kids names to get them right. Even calling the boys names the GIRLS names. I have gone too far when calling the kids the dog’s name. That is SO tired!

  216. Dandi D says

I have a newborn, so I certainly am not getting enough sleep.

  217. Sandy Weinstein says

i have never had human kids so i dont really know how tired women can be, i have had 4 legged kids that i have had to stay up with all nite as well as staying all nite with my mother many times. it takes a toll on your body. sometimes you feel like you cant even function anymore but then you know you have to …there were many times when i stayed up over 36 hrs with my mother just coming home to shower and let my dog out…

  218. Debbie Welchert says

I can remember not so long ago that I lost the box of spaghetti and had all of my grandchildren looking for it in the kitchen. I asked them to get me something out of the refrigerator and there it was. I’m telling you, lack of sleep can make you do a lot of weird things….

  223. Sarah Brittingham says

I have a million of these examples. One of the worst was when I meant to put cinnamon on my oatmeal, but instead put cumin. A lot of cumin. It was a shocking, wake me up when I took a bite moment. I have also dumped milk into the coffee maker. I have also dumped the cat’s food into his water bowl. The list goes on and on!

  224. David Fultner says

  232. Laura Grace Andry says

Picky Chicken is pretty funny and is something my children would have giggled over too. When I am too tired I usually just grunt a lot instead of forming words. It is like trying to decipher an animal when I talk before my coffee.

  233. Erin Ellis says

I have gone out with my shirt on inside out because I was so tired!

  234. Angela Mason says

One night after being sleep deprived with my newborn(about a week). i was listening to her fuss and got her out of her crib. I was rocking her and she just keep on fussing. It was dark and I felt something on the side of her face, I pulled at it and could not remove it, so I went and turned on the light just to discover I was pulling on her ear. Happy Holidays to all!

I cannot even go there! With 6 kids and brain fog, long work hours when I was working, nagging about their rooms and mixing up their names…even calling them the DOG’s name (not cool when your boys are called Tiffany or Libby. lol), and being a bit hard of hearing early in life…there are a ton of “what I heard” vs “what was really said. Some tired and crazy moments are just too too funny!

  242. June S. says

I still don’t even know how I fit the detergent bottle in our packed freezer, or what my thoughts were when I had to move everything.

I have a lot of trouble sleeping so I’m sure I have many embarrassing stories, so many that they’re just everyday things. The one that sticks out is that once I was so tired I forgot it was a weekday and my son was in preschool. The teacher called me to remind me (I was always early and when she didn’t see me she was worried – and this was a church- based preschool and I’d known the teachers for 15+ years).
