HALO SleepSack 5-Piece Bumper-Free Crib Set

We have had a few Halo SleepSacks for our children. I am a worry wart and have always worried about our baby’s warmth. Blankets worry me because blankets can end up covering their heads or being kicked off. We chose HALO® SleepSack® wearable blankets to replace loose blankets in the crib that can cover your baby’s face and interfere with breathing while keeping them snug and warm. When I heard that Halo also offered crib sets I was very interested.

From Halo SleepSack, the #1 choice of hospital nurseries, this Halo SleepSack 5-piece Crib Set will help create a beautiful and safe nursery for your little one. The American Academy of Pediatrics and leading safety organizations warn against the use of soft, loose bedding and bumpers in cribs. Instead of potentially dangerous comforters and bumpers, this unique five-piece Safe Sleep Crib Set contains only those things your baby needs to sleep safe and sound from the start.

I’ve always thought that most crib sets wasted “a piece” with a crib bumper and comforter. The bumper can actually be a dangerous piece. Babies like to move around the crib and if they happened to get wedged up against the bumper their breathing could be impaired. As they get older and start standing they can use the bumper as a stepping tool which could project them over the edge of the crib. Our crib bumpers have never made it to the crib. Like I said… it’s a wasted “piece”. I have the same opinion about crib comforters as well. Our comforters have been used as wall decoration.

The Halo Crib Set comes with a coordinating HALO SleepSack wearable blanket, SleepSack Swaddle, two soft 100% cotton jersey fitted crib sheets and matching decorative skirt. This all-in-one crib set will give you everything you need for your nursery, and baby, to be as safe as they possibly can be!

The SleepSack (and Swaddle) are not only soft, comfy and easy to use… it is adorable as well. As you can see, Liam has quite a bit of growing room in this SleepSack which is rated for 10-18 pounds. The SleepSack swaddle fits 6-12 lbs and both are 100% cotton interlock.

The 100% cotton jersey Crib sheets have extra deep pockets for snug, safe fit on standard crib mattress so I don’t have to worry about it coming off of the mattress and twisting up with the baby. The coordinating poly cotton blend crib skirt is 14 in. long and gives a nice contrast to the basic blue of the rest of the set. Overall we are very pleased with this set. We receive all of the crib bedding pieces we need plus two SleepSacks to keep baby warm without causing us sleepless nights worrying. The best part of it all?  A portion of every sale goes to First Candle/SIDS Alliance and The Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths.

I love the Halo brand. Didn’t know they made sheets too.

I like the bumper free too. I also think the sleep sacks are better than comforters. One pediatrician I used to work for thought that some SIDS deaths were caused by parents actually over bundling their babies with layers of comforters. He said they’d put on more than needed because they thought the baby might wiggle and get out from underneath them and get too cold. He said if babies become too hot that they can have a sort of heat stroke thing go on, pass out and then stop breathing. He said he didn’t have the research to back it up yet, but felt that it was one of the causes of SIDS deaths. He also said another cause were some stupid parents in our area who were known to tape or tie with strings around the back of baby’s head pacifiers in their mouths. Me and that pediatrician once walked into a room on a hospital pediatric ward where a parent had taped a pacifier on a babies mouth. Now the baby was in their with gastroenteritis, vomiting and diarrhea. How smart is that, tape a pacifier in a mouth and the vomit only has one place to go, into the baby’s lungs. I can tell you that pediatrician ripped that mom and told her to leave or he’d call the police on her for child endangerment. We often had very drunk parents coming to the peds unit at that hospital. Some people just shouldn’t have kids because they are too lazy to take care of them. That mom did that because the baby kept crying (poor sick baby felt bad and had every reason to cry) and she couldn’t hear the TV in the hospital room. Crazy woman, TV was more important to her than her baby’s needs.
