FoodSaver Vacuum Sealing System FM2100

FoodSaver Vacuum Sealing System FM2100

Sample received. All opinions are my own.

In the box
FoodSaver sent me a their FM2100 vacuum sealer to review, and I was very grateful to be given the chance to do this review.

I find living in a small town you can’t just always go to a store any day or time to get what you need for groceries. When I do go to the city and do a big grocery shop I have to stock up on food.

Often times when I do this a lot of food ends up getting freezer burnt or spoiling before I use it. However with a FoodSaver not only will it help keep my food fresher and tasting great longer, but it will also help me save money.

Out of the box
Pulling out of the box I found the FM2100 Model FoodSaver, a FoodSaver roll, some FoodSaver bags, a FoodSaver accessory hose, and the owners manual. There is no assembly required, so once you pull it out of the box it is ready for use.

Sealing Bananas to be frozen
After reading the manual, and getting myself familiar with the FoodSaver I placed the roll inside the machine.

Pulling out the roll and cutting off what I needed for the job I placed the one end inside the FoodSaver and moved the side latch to “operate”. This turned on the FoodSaver. Then I pressed the seal button on the top to seal the one end. The light turned off when the seal was done.

I had some over ripe bananas that I usually throw into the freezer for baking. I decided to try to vacuum seal this batch. Once the bananas were in the bag I placed the open end into the FoodSaver once again, this time I pressing the Vac/Seal Button.

You can watch as the air is being sucked out of the bag, once all the air is out it will automatically seal the end and once again the light will turn off when it’s finished.

Sealing Cookies
Another item I tried were some cookies that we had made. I wanted to freeze them and same some for Christmas but I still wanted them to have that fresh taste.

I did all the same steps as above with the only difference being how much air I allowed to be sucked out. After I pressed the Vac/Seal Button I watched as the air was sucked out, but before too much was taken out and the cookies would get crushed I pressed the seal button to stop the vacuuming and begin the seal.

Now I have packs of sealed cookies that will remain fresh until I open them.

Sealing Mushrooms
Here are some mushrooms I did for later use. I stored these in the fridge but the vacuum seal will help keep them fresher long. , Anyone who uses fresh mushrooms knows that it’s not too long in the fridge before they go slimy and turn bad.
Accessories
Some accessories you can get for the Foodsaver are:
– Jar Sealer
– Bottle Stoppers
– Round Canisters
– Deli Containers
– Ziplock bags

Option Buttons
You have a few options to get the optimal seal. You can select if you are sealing dry or moist food by pressing the top dry/moist.
The seal button has 3 uses:
1. Press to create a seal when making bags from a FoodSaver roll.
2. Press to immediately stop the vacuum process and begin sealing the bag. This prevents crushing delicate items.
3. Press to create a seal on multilayer film bags (such as a potato chip bag) to keep food sealed airtight.
The Vacuum & Seal button has 3 uses:
1. Press to vacuum seal and seal food airtight. Appliance shuts off automatically.
2. Press to pause vacuum process at any point.

Storing the Cord
When not in use you move the side latch to the store position, you can store the plug in cord underneath in the provided place. As the cord is rather short you will need to be near an outlet. That being said, it’s not a deal breaker for me.

I am in love with the FoodSaver. It is super easy to use and I have to add it’s fun to find things to vacuum seal, even my kids love helping seal.

If you’re looking for a great practical gift that everyone could use in their house then head over to www.foodsaver.com and check out the many different sealers they have to offer.

FoodSaver will save your food and your wallet!

What would be the first thing you would vacuum seal if you received a Foodsaver?
