Experience the Untold Stories of Motherhood | Video Feature

Not everyone has the butterflies and roses story of how they became a parent. Some are unexpected, some are a struggle, and some are untraditional. In this sponsored video we see several non-traditional stories of motherhood/parenthood that, in the end, inspire and remind us that although not everyone’s story is the same it’s the family bond that matters.

My story and journey to motherhood was a rocky one. We were a young married couple in college when we found out that our first born was on her way. Although poor and unprepared, we embraced her arrival with joy. I had a very uneventful pregnancy and was induced on our due date. Unfortunately the hospital we chose was understaffed and had non-maternity nurses working to cover the shortage. I labored normally (and might I add… without an epidural) throughout the night and through the next day. A horrific string of incidents began when I hit almost 10 cm dilated which, in the end, left my baby brain dead upon birth. She lived for five days… a blessing that I will never forget. They were full of sorrow, joy, wonder and awe at this beautiful being that we had created.

I think that events like that make you realize how precious life is, how fragile it is and that, yes, terrible things can happen to you. Our second born daughter was conceived six weeks after Emilee’s birth and passing. Although this pregnancy was not as easy as my first, in the end we were better parents because of our experiences. Above you can see our beautiful happy baby girl playing peek-a-boo with us. Those smiles that so many take for granted are engrained in my mind. We have since had three more beautiful babies… all of who are now ages 21, 16, 6 and 4.

Season 2 of I’m Having Their Baby premieres June 12 at 10/9c on Oxygen

  4. Wow! No better job or career than being a mom. There is no better gift than the blessing of a child from God. Let me tell you Ladies, the next best thing is being a grandparent. I am having a blast and have been blessed with 8 granddaughters. Sorry to say no grandsons but Tea parties galore. Hugs, kisses, snuggles, dress ups, rocking and storybook times. This is the life! And I wouldn’t trade it for and 6 figures or title. Thanks for sharing. Happy Mother’s Day to all you lovely Ladies!

So sorry for your loss back then Heather. It’s sad that tragic events sometimes help form our lives, but hopefully we can learn from that experience and it looks like you did just that. Bless Emilee and bless you for being such a fantastic mother!
