Copycat Choco Taco Recipe

Copycat Choco Taco Recipe

Choco Tacos take me back to my childhood. My grandmother and I were a fabulous shopping team and would shop from sun up to sun down. Choco Tacos were our end of the day treat that we both enjoyed immensely.

Homemade Choco Tacos now create a new tradition of creating these fabulously delicious goodies… waiting for them to freeze enough to devour and then enjoying each delicious bite as we cool down from a hot summer day.

Now you can enjoy them at home, too!

Four simple INGREDIENTS:

4 Waffle Bowls

1 pint Fudge Ripple Ice Cream

1/4 cup chopped Peanuts

6 oz Chocolate Melting Candy

Take the waffle bowl and wrap it in a dampened paper towel and heat in the microwave for 18 seconds.

At this point it should be soft enough to reshape the bowl into a taco shape.

Allow to cool and harden before proceeding to the next step.

Fill the tacos with ice cream and then return to the freezer for 15 minutes to harden.

Last but not least, melt the  chocolate by heating in the microwave for 30 seconds, stirring and repeating until melted and smooth.

Carefully spoon chocolate over exposed ice cream and edges of taco cone, then sprinkle with crushed peanuts.

Return to freezer to harden… then enjoy!

While I’m unfamiliar with Choco Taco as either a copy-cat recipe OR a tradition: it sounds like a taste treat I can easily imagine quickly becoming one in our home. I love the waffle bowls (at first I was afraid the recipe would call for flour or corn tortilla. But this would make for a very nifty summertime ~ a little like Belgium Waffles but with an unmistakable American flare!

I have to admit ~ just looking at all of these beautiful photos is making me very very hungry, eapecially for CHOCOLATE! Thanks.

bought some waffle bowls thinking this was a good idea. microwaved for 18 sec in a damp cloth. still couldn’t bend and shape the bowls into a taco shaped shell. will have to make waffle cones from scratch.
