Camping Activities for You and Your Family

Camping Activities for You and Your Family

Going out on a family camping trip can be real fun, if you’ve got the right activities lined up. In the following article we discuss five popular camping activities that you can carry out with your family and have more fun.

#1: Go for Board Games

Camping is when you need to get into activities that the whole family enjoys, and board games happen to be a great way to do just that. There are a number of options available for you, right from Monopoly to Scrabble – you just need to get creative and find something everybody can enjoy. The more you indulge in such family bonding time when camping, the better it is.

#2: Take a Hike

Regardless of what age your children are, you can get close to nature by going hiking. Just make sure you pack enough picnic lunch and lots of water. You can have the young ones get into activities such as identifying animal tracks, birds and rocks. For the older children, map-reading and other interactive activities can be both fun and educative. It’s a good idea to carry a solar lantern while you’re camping so that you’re safe even if it gets dark (you can buy a quality one at klightsolarlantern.com).

camping#3: Play Nature Focused Games

When you’re so close to nature, it’s only obvious for you to look for nature centric games. Games such as holding a scavenger hunt where you make a list of treasures that everybody in the family can go hunting for. This way the whole family will be able to discover nature like never before. If not that, you can also play the alphabet game differently by finding natural objects/things that start with each of the letters in the alphabet. The key is to find them in the correct order.

#4: Bring in Some Music

If you enjoy singing some good campfire tunes then you should get musical on your camping trip with the family. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to sit and sing songs. You can hum along with the kids while you’re doing things like gathering firewood. When it comes to camping, music not only offers lots of good entertainment but also makes it easy for everybody in the family to get closer.

#5: Build a Campfire

Children have this natural urge to discover, thanks to their curiosity. So by learning how to safely and effectively build a campfire, you help your kids fulfill this urge; showing them a critical survival skill that will help them even in the future. For the toddlers, they can help in collecting twigs without straying out of sight and the older children how the real thing is done. Just don’t forget to focus on safety while you’re doing everything.

There you go! Focus on the above camping activities and you can’t go wrong when it comes to having great family time and enjoying yourself.

  1. We love playing board games but we usually play a lot at home, so when we go out for camping or just for a short while we try to move our bodies more than our brains! 🙂

I haven’t been camping in so long. I look at the pic you posted and I really forget about how much fun it can be. I now have a 5 yr old son and I bet he would love it.. I would definitely have to include the items you mentioned though!
