For contemporary decor, go with a lit Santa on the roof, accompanied by friendly reindeer. A smiling snowman or happy elves complete the look. The age old debate over whether to buy a live or artificial tree continues to this day. Many swear by live trees, but artificial Christmas trees can make beautiful holiday home accents. Some artificial trees come with pre-strung lights and decorations, making them not only beautiful but convenient. Artificial trees are a great value for the money and can last for years with proper care. In the past they have suffered a bad rap, but now with expert craftsmanship, many are indistinguishable from their live counterparts.

Not only are artificial trees convenient and affordable, they pose less of a safety hazard than their live counterparts. Live trees have been known to start fires when dry branches get overheated by electric lights. Artificial trees are made from flame retardant material, making it less likely that fires will erupt while in use. In addition, artificial trees are used over and over, saving on waste that eventually makes it way to landfills.

To complement your artificial trees, go with wreaths and swags decorated with holly or lights. Hang a swag from your mantle and decorate with candles. These give your home an ethereal glow that is soft and inviting.

Whatever your holiday decor and design plans, start planning early and create a winter wonderland that your guests will admire. Find an artificial Christmas tree and start making holiday memories with your holiday decor today.

  1. We had a live tree when I was little but it always seemed a big problems. Trying to keep it from drying out, keeping the house pet out of it, and all those needles. I love our artificial tree. Still have to keep the dogs out of it and a few years ago a kitten. LOL Not the hassle of it and they make them so real looking that you almost have to touch it to find out if it is real or not.

  2. I really loved reading this blog post because I just thought discussing getting ready for the holidays was great! I use a really beautiful fake tree and it looks real! I also use fake decorative small trees for outside that I keep lit for the Holidays! It is so much cheaper and easier to use fake trees, wreaths and other items!

  3. I am a lover of our artificial tree. For the longest of time the kids hated it, so one year I went out and bought a real one. The tree had no strength in its limbs to hold the ornaments. One ornament–a light one at that, too–and the branch bent until the ornament fell off. That’s when I said the heck with it and kept with the artificial one, and now the kids agreed.

We use a great affordable artificial tree from goodwill ever year. Great tips!
