Achievable Health Goals For Busy Moms In 2021

A new year is always a good time to set targets and work towards goals. Many moms are keen to prioritize health and wellbeing, but it can be tough to hit milestones when you’re running a home and raising kids. If you’re on a mission to put your health first in 2021, here are some achievable health goals.

Increasing activity levels

Health experts recommend 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week. Moderate exercise can include everything from walking the dog to doing a dance class, but many people struggle to hit the target. If you want to be more active, you don’t have to spend your life in the gym or run for miles every day. It’s often difficult for moms to find the time to work out on a regular basis. If this scenario sounds familiar, there are solutions. Home workouts are fantastic because they enable you to fit in exercise around other commitments and there’s a host of options available. At home, you can use gym equipment, follow online workouts or even exercise with a virtual trainer that uses fitness club management software to make your fitness process smooth. It’s also an excellent idea to try and introduce outdoor exercise into your daily regime, for example, taking the kids for a walk every morning, walking the dog in the evenings or going for a family bike ride. Activity trackers and apps can help you stay motivated and encourage you to be more active.

Healthy eating

Healthy eating is often tied up with dieting and weight loss, especially at this time of year. The truth is that eating well can help you lose weight, but the most important benefit of altering your diet is boosting your health. The foods you eat should provide you with the vitamins, minerals and nutrients you need. Aim for a balanced diet, which incorporates all the major food groups, whole grains and fiber-rich foods, and ask your doctor or a personal trainer if you’re thinking about adding supplements like veg pro to enhance training benefits. If you want to lose weight this year, the best way to enjoy long-term results is to keep an eye on your diet and your calorie intake and increase the amount of exercise you do.

Getting enough rest

If you were to ask a room full of parents about sleep, you’d probably hear all kinds of tales about sleepless nights and exhaustion. Moms, particularly those with very young children, often struggle to get enough rest. As soon as it’s possible to do so, try and get into a routine. Once babies start to sleep through the night and toddlers adjust to sleeping in their own rooms, establish a routine for yourself. Many parents work so hard to get their kids into a routine that they neglect their own sleep. If you go to bed and get up at a similar time each day, your body clock will adjust and you should find it easier to get to sleep and get up in the morning. There will always be disturbed nights, but taking time to relax in the evenings and giving yourself enough hours to rest and recover should lead to improvements in sleep quality.
