5 Tips When Coming Home with a Newborn | #WIN $100 GC | #UnstoppableMoms

I wrote this post as part of my participation in a blog tour for The Motherhood on behalf of the makers of Children’s MOTRIN® and received compensation to thank me for taking the time to participate. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

Something happens with a woman becomes a mom. Although you can’t see it, I really think a superhero cape sprouts out her backside.

Some how this woman that would forget where her head was if it wasn’t attached can now multi-task like a pro. Heck, I’ve breastfed my baby while grocery shopping for the rest of the family. Things have to get done, and baby has to eat, right?

I noticed during our #UnstoppableMoms Twitter party last week that there were several “new moms” in the group. I was the ripe old age of 21 when I had my first and I honestly have no clue how I did it without family nearby and without the internet to use as a reference.

So, I thought I would put together a tip list for the new mom’s in the group. You’ve already done the miraculous job of growing a new human being and bringing them into the world.

Now what?

1923849_30354966116_6184_nAlthough they don’t come with instruction manuals, you will figure out what they need and when. It will be second nature sooner than you realize.

  1. Sleep when they sleep. The housework can wait. A sleep deprived mom = a mom with a short fuse.
  2. Hold them… a lot. Heck, carry them if you can. You cannot hold a newborn too much. You won’t spoil them.
  3. Newborns cry for a reason… not because they are spoiled or brats.
  4. Allow siblings to help so they feel apart of the “new” family. It makes them feel special and it tames down the “naughties” that come when trying to take attention away from baby.
  5. Talk to your baby a lot. Even read to them. They are learning, even at this young age. Read them your new romance novel… it’s ok really. They don’t understand, they just love to hear your voice.

The makers of Children’s MOTRIN® are inspired by all the things Moms do, from quick family meals to keeping the kids entertained on rainy days. Moms may not always realize it, but they are amazing in so many ways. Moms are on call day and night and have so much unique knowledge that can really help other moms. That’s why the makers of Children’s MOTRIN® are asking moms to share this knowledge in the form of tips and tricks that help keep them going. These can be their own tips or those from moms they know, and can be about everything from how they create quick meals for their family to how they keep the kids entertained on a long drive.

WIN IT:
