    My husband and I eat a lot of beans as we are trying to eat way less meat – no more than once a week if at all. However, we’ve not really given black eyed peas a shot. These are great recipes to add some bean variety to our meals – thanks!

    I have always made them with hamhocks and an onion. Yummy warm and so good. Served with cornbread its lucky and filling.

    We normally have this tradition where we cook these for New Years day but since my husband works in North Dakota, it’s the first year in 15 years that I’ve been with him that I haven’t cooked black eye peas !!     Well, I’m from KY, so I’m likely to eat black-eyed peas on more occasions than New Year’s Day, lol. I like the Southern-Style recipe. I also sometimes put them in salads.
